Can a school counselor become an LPC?

The steps a school counselor needs to take to become an LPC:

• Complete a master's degree in counseling: Most professional counselors complete a master's degree in either mental health counseling, school counseling, or both, depending on the type of counseling they wish to practice.

• Pursue certification and/or licensure in your chosen field: Certification requires passing an examination or completing a specified number of supervised hours.

• Participate in continuing education: LPCs are required to participate in ongoing professional development activities and seminars to maintain their license.
