Does Alliant Energy drug test?

Alliant Energy typically uses a third-party lab company that runs a ten-panel urine test that looks for the following substances:

• Amphetamines

• Cannabis

• Cocaine

• Opiates

• Phencyclidine

• Barbiturates

• Benzodiazepines

• Methaqualone

• Methadone

• Propoxyphene

• Alcohol

Suppose any director, manager, supervisor, or other company officer or client representative has any suspicion that an employee under their supervision may be affected by or under the influence of illegal drugs. In that case, the employee under suspicion is asked to undergo a laboratory test to determine the presence of illegal drugs.

Refusal to take the test results in immediate termination. Additionally, consistent with the law, drug and alcohol screening tests are given after accidents or near misses, upon reasonable suspicion of alcohol or drug use, or upon any other circumstances which warrant a test.

As outlined in Alliant Energy's Drug, Alcohol, and Smoke-free Workplace Policy, the use, possession, sale, purchase, manufacture, distribution, dispensation, or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while performing work for or on behalf of Alliant Energy, including breaks, meals, and overtime, on company property or in vehicles are prohibited.

An exception to allow alcohol at certain company events may be granted at the discretion of the Vice President sponsoring the event. A violation of this policy results in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Depending upon the circumstances, other action, including notification of appropriate law enforcement agencies, may be taken against any violator of this policy.

Additionally, Alliant Energy supports a smoke-free workplace in accordance with all applicable laws. Smoking is only permitted in those places and at those times designated by Alliant Personnel Resources LLC on company property or policy is dictated by onsite Client Facility policy when on assignment on Client property.

Using E-Cigarettes is considered to be included and considered the same as 'smoking.' Do not smoke near any area where flammable or combustible materials, such as solvents, are used or stored. Other rules regarding smoking may apply depending on your work location.
