Yes, Charles River Laboratories drug tests; it is an alcohol and drug-free workplace. To help ensure the highest safety standards, all new hires must take a pre-employment drug test as part of the onboarding process.
Moreover, Charles River Laboratories has the right to drug test any employee if they suspect an employee is at work intoxicated or if an employee is involved in a workplace accident.
Charles River Laboratories uses a 10-panel test that looks for the following drugs:
Amphetamines
Cannabis
Cocaine
Opiates
Phencyclidine
Barbiturates
Benzodiazepines
Methaqualone
Methadone
Propoxyphene
Alcohol (only if an employee is suspected of drinking on-the-job)
Drug testing takes place either at a third-party lab or on-side at the employment center. These use either a urine or blood sample depending on the position and location. Cannabis is not allowed regardless of whether you have a medical cannabis card or if you live in a state where cannabis is legalized.
While you are at work, you must never be under the influence of illegal drugs, alcohol or any other substance that might impair your ability to work safely and effectively. Charles River prohibits the use, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of illegal drugs on Company property and whenever you are at work or represent the Company.
We also prohibit the consumption of alcohol during working hours or on Company property, unless specifically approved or as part of an approved local policy at your location. For additional information, see applicable local Company policies.
Charles River Laboratories is also a smoke-free workplace. Employees are not allowed to use tobacco or vaping products while inside the building, company car, or at work-related events.
