Yes, FirstEnergy drug tests. FirstEnergy has a strict no drug and alcohol policy. If you are selected, they make you an offer to join FirstEnergy. Once you accept, the following pre-employment screenings will be scheduled: a drug screen, a background check, and, when applicable, a physical examination.
FirstEnergy uses a urine drug test performed by a local third-party lab. Once hired, an employee has 24 hours to complete their drug test. In some cases, all you are asked to do is a pre-employment drug test. In other cases, you may be asked to test bi-annually or prior to the start of a new project.
If a candidate fails a drug test or does not take the drug screening, they may reapply again after one year. Once employed, failure to pass a drug test results in either termination or being put on a probationary period while completing a drug treatment program. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.
FirstEnergy uses a ten-panel test that looks for the following drugs:
Amphetamines
Cannabis
Cocaine
Opiates
Phencyclidine
Barbiturates
Benzodiazepines
Methaqualone
Methadone
Propoxyphene
Alcohol (only if an employee is suspected of drinking on-the-job)
FirstEnergy is also a smoke-free workplace. Employees are not allowed to use tobacco or vaping products while inside the building, in company cars, or at work-related events.
