Does SpartanNash drug test?
No, SpartanNash does not drug test potential hires and current employees in most cases; however, those seeking to gain a manager or director position or roles in the pharmacy retail department within SpartanNash must submit to a drug screening in order to be considered eligible for employment.
It is also important to note that the company does reserve the right to request a drug screen of current employees in any of the following scenarios:
- When employees are suspected of being intoxicated at work
- When employees are involved in a workplace accident
- When employees experience a work-related injury
In any of these instances, a failed drug test can result in disciplinary action, including termination, and possible criminal prosecution, if the employee has endangered the lives of their co-workers. It is unclear what type of drug test the company uses in these situations, as the process is completed by a third-party drug testing lab.
