How do you write a specialist resume?

By Zippia Team - Mar. 3, 2022

You write a specialist resume by including contact information, a profile summary, education, work experience, and skills. We recommend starting with a draft of just your education and experience. Then when applying to a particular job, create a new draft and fill out the skill and profile summary based on the job description.

After contact information, you should add a profile summary. This is a great way to give the hiring manager a sneak peek at what's to come and highlight specific skills needed for the role. The profile summary should be no more than two to three sentences.

This section and the work experience section focus on using action verbs such as 'customized' or 'spearheaded' and include quantifiable measurements of success whenever possible. In the work experience section, include three to six bullet points using action verbs to highlight your skills using real-world examples.

For example, "5+ years of industry experience includes increasing testing scores by 40%, decreasing system load time by 22%", or "training 20+ members of staff."

Finally, include relevant specialist skills that align somewhat with the job description.
