This question is about visual merchandiser resumes.
The main duties and responsibilities of a visual merchandiser are to define, design, and implement a creative visual merchandising strategy for a company or organization.
The goal of these duties is to turn window shoppers into prospects, drive branding and maximize sales for a company.
Other responsibilities include:
Create eye-catching visual displays that lead a customer throughout the store
Consult with the company to ensure your strategies are in line with their culture, products, image, and target market
Coordinate with other merchandisers to revise and present design ideas
Research lifestyle, demographics, and design trends
Change displays frequently to promote new products and reflect seasonal themes
Analyze sales merchandising reports and survey results
Typically, there are two types of visual merchandisers: working with a team or doing freelance consultant work.
Most major retailers will have a team of visual merchandisers based at their head office. These designers will usually design concepts in the office and occasionally visit stores to convey their design ideas to the in-store visual merchandising teams.
Freelance visual merchandisers work with smaller businesses or independent retailers to create displays or train staff.
