What are the pros and cons of being a supervisor?

Pros:

• Growth Opportunities. Being a supervisor is a wonderful way to turn your job into a career. It allows for many new experiences and opportunities, and can be a wonderful way to secure future employment at this level moving forward.

• Higher Pay. Most likely, a promotion to supervisor includes a pay raise. This is obviously a great pro for working as a supervisor. It also gives you the potential for more pay as you can move into higher management positions.

• More Responsibility. If you are the type of person that enjoys being in charge, then management can be great for you. You have the responsibility to oversee and help others, which can be exciting.

Cons

• Stress. While it can be exciting to be given more responsibility, that also comes with more stress. You now have additional tasks to complete, and you do depend on others doing their part for you to be successful, which can be stressful.

• Hiring and Firing. The hiring and firing process is on supervisors. While hiring may sound fun, it is an arduous task, and it can be stressful. Firing can be difficult, especially if you are firing a friend or anyone you know well.
