To work in payroll, you need skills in organization and familiarity with payroll software. Much of the work in payroll is tracking and processing money. Make sure correct payments are made, including overtime, deductions, and bonuses.

Mathematical and analytical skills should be sharp, errors should quickly catch your attention. You may often be asked to answer employee questions, so communication skills are also valued, even though you will most of the time working behind a screen assuring everything is being processed correctly.
