Where do CMAs work?

Most CMAs work in healthcare facilities, such as hospitals or outpatient medical clinics. Depending on where you work, you will have different responsibilities and different work environments, so it's important to know what is important to you, so you choose an environment that works best for you.

The majority of CMAs will work in medical clinics. Medical clinics have very consistent hours and work. You will generally be working during established business hours, with common holidays off work. Oftentimes, you will work for a specialty such as podiatry or optometry. Most CMAs will begin working in clinics but may choose to switch to something different.

A CMA in a hospital will have different, varying shifts. It is not going to always be during established business hours, and you may end up working on holidays. This work tends to be much more fluid.
