In 1924, Rudolf Dassler and his brother Adolf formed the company Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. The brothers could not agree on business practices and the two agreed to split in 1948 and create two separate business entities, Adidas and Puma.
In 1948, in the first soccer match after World War II, several members of West Germany teamwork Puma boots. In 1952, Josy Barthel, the winner of the 1500-meter run, was wearing Pumas. Puma became a household name and continued to grow and expand its portfolio and became a publicly traded company in 1986.
