At Builder's FirstSource, the Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction for continuous improvement (CI) for the NW Leadership and regional teams. This position directly supports field implementation and adoption of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement thinking, systems, and tools, as well as providing leadership and project management for various lean initiatives, kaizen events and other continuous improvement efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of AOP process, translate strategic direction into annual tactical plans by working with Area leadership, Millwork, Components, and functional teams to develop targeted action plans to improve operational efficiency.
Develop, where needed, and train Area and functional teams on lean manufacturing/Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools.
Provide hands-on support & guidance in the execution of Area CI action plans.
Collaborate with the Strategic Management Office (SMO) in development, planning and execution of Productivity Initiatives into the AOP process to drive annual productivity saving targets.
Develop KPI's, establish benchmarks, define success for execution of CI strategies and tactical plans
Coordinate & align with corporate functions, including but not limited to Region CI Teams, Strategic Management Office (SMO) & Safety, in the facilitation, planning and leading of various lean initiatives in support of company goals (to include kaizen events, 5S implementation, change management, process mapping, etc.).
Serve as a member of the Productivity Leadership Council.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Strongly preferred bachelor's degree in business or industrial engineering field and/or ten years work experience in relevant field, demonstrating a high capacity for learning, communicating, and leading others.
5 years in building materials, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
5 years leading lean process improvement initiatives.
Experience leading change in multi-site environment.
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of lean manufacturing/CI methodologies.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Lean process analysis and improvement.
Project management skills and change management experience.
Preference given to individuals with Six Sigma Lean training and Black Belt Certification.
Tech-savvy with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), MS Project, and Visio.
Ability to travel and perform other activities per the requirements of the position.

Job Summary
Makes deliveries to customers using a company-provided or rental vehicle. Maintains records of deliveries, inspects and maintains delivery vehicles, and provides customer service on order and delivery issues. This position requires operation of a company or rental vehicle, and this operation may be done during the average work week. If selected for this position, the company will continuously monitor Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs). A requirement of this position is an acceptable MVR status and a valid driver's license.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Delivers customer orders safely within a service area, including interfacing with customers on order issues. Follows the planned route for timely deliveries while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
Loads inventory into trucks and unloads orders at customer sites using powered and non-powered material handling equipment. Provides exceptional customer service by being professional and polite during deliveries.
Reviews order manifests to ensure customer orders and daily routes are complete and accurate.
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and internal policies and procedures.
Maintains routine contact with the distribution center to receive instructions on delivery interruptions, such as traffic congestion or missing orders.
Prepares and maintains vehicle and customer order records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Contacts customers to provide updates on delivery statuses.
Provides feedback to management on escalated customer service and sales-related issues.

Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.
Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.
Work Environment
Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
