Dr. Valbuena is also Contracted Academic Faculty in the Department of Family Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital.

Angela Salgado has more than 25 years of experience in management and human resources. Before coming to CHASS Center, Ms. Salgado was Regional Human Resources Manager for Meritor – a tier-one automotive supplier. There, she led union contract negotiations as the first chair for the company. Ms. Salgado has a Master of Business Administration from Davenport University and graduated from Spring Arbor University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Organizational Development Degree. She combined her education with her strong leadership skills, strong financial knowledge in accounting, union negotiation knowledge, strong fluency in Spanish Language and experience related to her ability to induce cultural changes and a human resources department's strategic development. Ms. Salgado is the first generation from an immigrant family to obtain a university degree and has lived around Southwest Detroit for more than 25 years. In 2008, Ms. Salgado was a recipient of the Journey to Success for Outstanding Achievement Award from SER METRO-Detroit.

Debbie Mitchell

Debbie Mitchell became CHASS’ Chief Financial Officer in 2017. She is a CPA who previously worked in public accounting for 20 years. Ms. Mitchell attended Walsh College on an academic scholarship, and passed the CPA exam on her first attempt. Her mother was originally from Southwest Detroit and she is excited to be back in the community, assisting CHASS Center in furthering its financial objectives.

Marylu also served as the Chief Operating Officer for 8 years. She planned, organized and implemented CHASS’ first automated information system as well as CHASS’ first electronic health record system. She has proven to be a versatile and skilled professional with excellent leadership qualities and her in-depth experience in developing and improving operational functions has been a great benefit for CHASS. Ms. Villarreal is bilingual and bicultural.

Richard Bryce

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Richard Bryce is a family physician and the Chief Medical Officer at CHASS Center. His passion is to promote and motivate his patients to pursue healthier lifestyles. With the objective of improving exposure to physical activity within our patients and the Southwest and Mexicantown Detroit community, Dr. Bryce started and champions CHASS’ Annual 5K Run/Walk and Children's Race. Dr. Bryce also initiated the Reach Out and Read program at CHASS Center, which provides our pediatric patients with a book at each well child visit. He has also been instrumental in facilitating the Fresh Prescription Program at CHASS Center, where he and other providers prescribe fresh fruits and vegetables to their patients to ''fill'' at the Center's seasonal produce market, with the goal of increasing access and consumption of these foods. He is also Faculty Advisor for Street Medicine Detroit and Detroit Street Care, student organizations affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. These programs provide medical care to Detroit’s homeless population. Dr. Bryce is clinical faculty at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Henry Ford Health System.
