Hiring Construction Operators-Laborers immediately in the Detroit, MI area! The Operator is responsible for the operation, care, and maintenance of the boiler/boiler truck used for various installations. In this role, you will do more than drive or operate one of our vehicles. You will also play an important role with the crew and assist with performing labor duties outdoors at our job sites.
If hired, you will be required to report to our Howell, MI office for onboarding.
The starting rate on day one will be $27.53-$28.96 per hour depending on Operator level and receive an increase at your one year of employment.

What You'll Do:
Perform daily functional and safety inspections of assigned equipment, and any light maintenance needed
Ensure assigned vehicles are properly maintained and in accordance with DOT guidelines
Identify the proper curing method for each project and follow the appropriate curing schedule
Perform tasks using assigned equipment as directed by the Foreman and/or Superintendent
Perform all work safely and effectively while operating the boiler unit to cure the resin product
Enter confined spaces and repair various types of sewer lines using a specific product/process
Ensure pull-in tube is properly prepared for installation
Install prepared tube in a safe and effective manner using a winch, truck, backhoe, crane, etc.
What We Need From You:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum of two years' experience in construction environment, preferably with CIPP, water or sewer utilities
Heavy equipment operating experience required
Valid driver's license required with clean motor vehicle report
Must possess a Class A or B CDL and be aligned with Insituform's motor vehicle standards (Hazmat endorsement is preferred but not required)
Ability to work with the rest of the crew and handle all labor job duties at the job sites
Ability to lift/move up to 75 pounds and use pneumatic, battery powered or electric tools
Must be able to wear respirator and body harness while entering confined spaces
Comfortable working outside at job sites with moving vehicles and mechanical operations, with occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles
Must be able to travel weekly (potentially out of state)

Shine Crew Leader Job Summary:
Each morning, you'll meet with the rest of the team to understand the day's game plan.
You'll drive one of our Shine vehicles to various customers' homes or businesses (typically with another Shine team member) throughout the day and perform our services specific to that customer's needs.
You'll call upcoming customers on your way to the job alerting them that you're on the way.
You'll meet customers face to face (if they're home) before your crew begins its work to ensure we're meeting the customer's expectations on the job that day.
Upon inspection, you may suggest other services the customer may consider that you feel may be appropriate.
When the work is complete, you'll complete a post-job inspection and meet again with the customer (if they're home) to review the work to their satisfaction.
You'll accept and process the customer's payment through our mobile payment technology completing the job.
You'll end your day back at the Shine office to recap the day, ensuring your vehicle is clean and ready for the next day's work.

Essential Functions:
Supervises a line clearance crew and is responsible for planning daily work for crew.
Assigns work for individual crew members and directs crew in performing work according to accepted line clearance practices. Must be capable of adjusting to field requirements and take independent action without close supervision.
Recognizes poisonous plants and uses proper safeguard against them.
Enforces safe work practices, as experience, judgment, company policy, and OSHA specifies and conducts safety training in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Arranges with customer or property owner ability to obtain access, advise them of interruption and explain the work that needs to be done. Repairs minor damages if they occur. Keeps accurate records, timesheets and reports related to the performance of the crew. Furnishes supervisor and Utility representative with reports of orders completed, units of work completed, crew time and distribution, etc.
Receives and interprets tree trimming, removal and chemical application orders initiated by General Foreperson or Utility, involving an understanding of drawings and symbols, representing types of power lines, voltages, and line equipment.
Responsible for the conduct of safety training of assigned personnel in accordance with good safety training procedures, in addition to and in coordination with client company policies and procedures.
Responsible for being mindful of controlling crew costs including effective use of manpower, proper work methods, amount of trimming, and operation of equipment.
Considers inclement weather conditions and determines when to start or stop work, dependent upon its effect on employees and the nature of the work.
Safeguards employees and public from hazards in and around work area. Cooperates with customer, police, and fire departments when blocking street or driveways. Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, etc. to protect employees as well as the public. Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue. Follows and enforces safe work practices, rules and policies.
Responsible for truck inspection, proper working conditions, as well as necessary repairs to tools, trucks and other work equipment. Requests major repairs or replacements when required. Maintains good housekeeping on truck and at worksite locations.
In emergency situations, determines proper action to be taken to eliminate hazards to life and property and the trimming/removal of trees, if necessary, to expedite the restoration of service by calling out crew personnel and performing other activities connected with emergency work.
Trims and/or removes trees by climbing with the aid of a ladder, safety belt, climbing line, powered trimmer lift truck, or works from the ground using saws/pruners. Will cut branches or trunk sections and drops or lowers them to the ground with lines.

Sprays stumps and brush with hand-spraying equipment to prevent further growth.
Loads and unloads trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris and/or feeds brush into a wood chipper.

Services gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment.
Relays hand-signals, directs traffic, drives and operates trucks and equipment as assigned, and keeps trucks and work area clear and orderly.

Qualifications
Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable, insured transportation to travel to and between work sites as required by the position
Depending on experience, candidates may be considered for one of the following labor positions:
Labor Foreman
10-15 years of construction experience
Proven ability to manage and lead a labor crew
Strong leadership and coordination skills on active job sites
Journeyman Laborer
Minimum 5 years of experience on construction sites
Skilled in material handling and debris/rubbish removal
Able to perform site dewatering, sweeping, and general labor tasks
Reliable and adaptable to various site needs
General Laborer
No experience necessary
Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
Interest in growing into a journeyman laborer role
Not intended for candidates seeking apprentice carpenter roles
Cleaning Laborer
Typically assigned late in the construction project
Responsible for finish/final cleaning
Tasks include vacuuming, wiping down surfaces, cleaning glass, etc.
Attention to detail and pride in delivering a clean, finished space
Responsibilities
Receiving material deliveries, organizing materials, and material inventory
Building scaffolding and temporary structures
Staging jobsites
Assisting carpenters
