(DPW) After School Support Staff will provide student homework sessions and classes, supporting students academically and behaviorly. The applicant must be proficient in 2nd-5th grade coursework, instruction, and support for students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In order to be successful in this position, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Answer questions and provide a reteach of information to students on homework assigned during the school day and during enrichment classes. Take student attendance and submit the records at the assigned time. Initiate and provide academic support with students. Maintain a positive relationship with the students attending the After School Program. Ask for guidance and assistance from the coordinator when unable to assist a student. Monitor and supervise the student's behavior within the assigned classroom. Follow and enforce all program and school rules. Report infractions to the site coordinator. Arrive on time for after school program and stay until the end of the session. Actively participate in the program and complete all assigned tasks. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION High School Diploma, College degree preferred EXPERIENCE Experience tutoring students is desired TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a hourly position and is contingent on the continuation of grant funding. Location: Danville, Illinois Reports To: Program Supervisor The Group & Community Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in engaging youth and families through structured group sessions, one-on-one support, and community-based programming. This position maintains a manageable caseload, delivers youth-focused group sessions in school and community settings, and supports ongoing engagement through activities and family events. This position is committed to working with individuals, groups and college students in the residence hall environment. Candidates work period is for an academic year (August 15 -May 15). This is a 9-month full-time position. Direct support personnel (DSPs) support individuals with developmental disabilities as they engage in organized activities and enjoy leisure time activities at the program and in the community.
