Oversees the organization and cleanliness of the medication room in addition to ensuring that all medications are placed in the proper location and stored correctly.
Ensures daily temperature log for the medication refrigerator is kept up to date by the med techs
Counting short fills, completing short fill paperwork and reviewing with RCF Director for approval prior to ordering.
Run the missed medication report at the end of each shift to ensure all medications have been signed out by all med techs on duty after they've been administered.
Train all newly hired med tech's and provide feedback to applicable managers about the progress of training and any concerns you observe during training.
Continues ongoing training with all med techs as needed and/or requested by facility nurse.
Preform and document a narcotic audit of 1 medication cart per week as assigned by the facility nurse.
Responsible for alerting the nurse and/or RCC of any missing incident reports or other documentation.
Assists the nurse with assigned IP (infection prevention) duties, such as setting up PPE carts, stocking PPE, and placing residents on observation and/or isolation.
Keeps nurse and supervisor informed of factors that interfere with being able to perform the work as assigned (i.e. resident refusals, request no medication from certain med techs).
Report changes in a resident's condition to the facility nurse and RCC.
Responsible for regularly checking the schedule and reporting to shifts as assigned. Works with the Staffing Manager to coordinate scheduling changes and time off.
Assist with on-call phone and assist staffing manager with finding required coverage.
Attends resident care conference meetings with the RCC, nurse and Administrator as requested.
Participates in care plan creation and updates as requested/needed.
Ensure med techs are following the 24-hour process for all paperwork and physician's orders and are following up on pending requests in the 24-hour binders. Support other med techs and keep this system flowing smoothly.
Assign additional tasks and distribute work to ensure equitable distribution of tasks for each med tech.
Lead other med techs and assign tasks for organizing cycle fill when it arrives each month.
