Job Description
CD PROJEKT RED is looking for an Engineering Director to join our office in Boston and drive the gameplay systems of Project Sirius, an online multiplayer game set in the world of The Witcher. As an Engineering Director, you'll combine your leadership skills with your deep technical expertise to shape the future of our gameplay systems, driving innovation and delivering unforgettable gaming experiences.
Daily Responsibilities
Establish and oversee the architecture and technical strategy for gameplay features and systems.
Lead and mentor a team of talented engineering managers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Develop strategic plans for the gameplay teams, including resource allocation, project timelines, and technology roadmaps.
Collaborate closely with art, animation, design, and other engineering teams to align gameplay features & systems with the creative vision for the project.
Drive standards for clean, high-quality, and efficient C++ code, ensuring best practices in optimization, readability, and maintainability.
Ensure thorough documentation, both in-code and for broader knowledge-sharing, enabling smooth onboarding and collaboration within the team and across departments.
Direct efforts to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring that character systems contribute to an overall polished and performant product.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in gameplay technology and bring innovative ideas to the team.
Qualifications
Min. 10 years professional experience and at least 5 years of experience within the games industry.
Experience in creating an AAA title for game consoles, debugging, and profiling these games in a console environment.
Proven track record in managing a team.
Good knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 environment - especially features and systems related to the gameplay area.
Practical knowledge of gameplay features & systems implementation.
Experience with Abilities Systems.
Experience with NPCs and crowds.
Experience with removing gameplay systems from the Main Thread.
Knowledge of modern game gameplay systems architecture.
Deep knowledge of C++.
Math & algorithmic skills.
Good & practical knowledge of code parallelization.
Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus.

This role is responsible for building and leading a team of world-class engineers focused on ensuring GSK has a leading computational policy and governance capability. They support the Head of Infrastructure, DevOps, and Support (and the entire Onyx leadership team) in building a strong culture of accountability and ownership in their team, as well as instilling best-in-class engineering practices (e.g., testing, code reviews, DevOps-forward ways of working). Key responsibilities for the Director, Governance Engineering include:
* Build, lead, develop, and retain a team of world-class engineers

* Maintain a safe and clean engine room. Train new engineers as required. Ensure that performance and behavior of engineers meets legal and professional requirements.
* Conduct drills with Marine and Non-marine crew as directed by the Master or with engineering crew.
* The majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with moderate to loud noise levels.
* The Marine operation is subject to varying levels of motion, movement, and vibration.
* The Third Assistant Engineer both lives and works onboard a vessel, on a rotational basis, generally for 56 Days on - 56 Days off (+).

The salary range for this position is between $70,000 - $100,000.

Experience communicating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and external partners both domestically and internationally
Innovative, knowledgeable, and able to adapt to fast-paced changing requirements
