Description Under the direction of a supervisory official in the Department of Environmental Protection, plans, coordinates, and directs the programs and staff in a divisional bureau performing complex engineering, administrative/management, fiscal, environmental, or scientific activities relative to the areas of environmental management; identifies, analyzes, and resolves specific technical and administrative issues relative to the work activities of the bureau; may directly supervise section chief positions; does related work as required. Specific to the Position Manages the Bureau of Recycling & Hazardous Waste Management, which consists of the Recycling Facility Unit responsible for the initial application review of, the renewal of, and modifications to Class B, Class C, Class D, and Multi-Class recycling center approvals; the Hazardous Waste Permitting Unit responsible for the review of applications for the renewal of, and modifications to Hazardous Waste Facilities permits; the E-waste Unit responsible for the oversight of the electronics manufacturer funded program to recycle covered electronic devices including computers, televisions, and desktop printers and fax machines; the Regulated Medical Waste Unit responsible for the review of required annual reports submitted by regulated medical waste generators and transporters and for the preparation and distribution of the Interagency Protocol for Response to Medical Waste Abandonments. Provides technical, supervisory and managerial oversight of the Bureau, develops work plans, prepares and evaluates monthly reports to monitor Bureau productivity, assists with budget preparation, and completes PARs for staff. Ensures that the Bureau functions in accordance with the NJDEP, Division of Sustainable Waste Management, and/or the Program's SOPs, established protocols, deadlines and responsibilities.
