    Ll Oefentherapie

Engineering manager job in Seattle, WA

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) delivers mission-critical applications for top enterprises worldwide, operating in more than 50 regions. Beyond public cloud, OCI is expanding into dedicated, hybrid, multi-cloud, and edge deployments. Within OCI, the Technical Strategy & Oversight (TSO) organization builds the foundational systems and frameworks that power our most demanding tier-one services. From high-performance primitives to a next-generation runtime, TSO is where OCI's boldest infrastructure initiatives begin. One of those is Autonomous OCI - a greenfield effort to redesign the kernel and runtime of the cloud itself. Today's hyperscaler model grows linearly with people; every region or feature adds manual operations and cost. Meanwhile, demand for AI, GPUs, sovereign, and dedicated regions is accelerating faster than humans can scale. Autonomous OCI breaks this curve by making services fast, resilient, and self-healing by default, enabling OCI to scale to thousands of regions efficiently. The payoff: faster time-to-market, higher margins, and a durable competitive edge. As the Director of Engineering, you will build and scale the team delivering the Light-weight Infrastructure (our next-generation runtime for compute, networking, storage, telemetry, and governance) at the core of Autonomous OCI. You'll collaborate with senior architects and leadership, onboard OCI services to this new stack, and help define the primitives - compute, storage, networking, telemetry, identity - that will shape the future of cloud. This is a rare chance to do career-defining work in a greenfield initiative, with the autonomy and support to succeed. Career Level - M4 Who are we looking for? You've led high-scale cloud infrastructure services, balancing business impact with deep technical excellence. You know how to grow and guide globally distributed teams while owning the design, delivery, and operation of mission-critical systems. You are technically strong, with experience building services that are highly available, scalable, and resilient - and you pair that with the judgment to balance new feature delivery with incremental improvements. This role blends technical depth with organizational leadership. You'll mentor and scale managers and principal engineers, while also rolling up your sleeves when needed to dive into architecture, design, or execution. If you're energized by the chance to shape a 0→1 greenfield initiative and define the future of cloud infrastructure, this role offers both the scope and impact to do it. Responsibilities Define and drive the technical, product, and organizational strategy for one or more charters within Light-weight Infrastructure (Core Compute, Connectivity & State, Observability & Governance). Lead a diverse, globally distributed team to design and deliver 0→1 services that form the foundational layer of Autonomous OCI. Hire and develop top engineering talent (both managers and ICs) to build a high-performing team. Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and high professional standards. Communicate effectively across the organization - from engineers to architects to executives. Mentor teams through architecture and security reviews. Establish practices that drive continuous improvement in engineering execution, leadership, and technical excellence. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years at a senior management level, with experience of managing managers and staff engineers. 7+ years of relevant distributed systems or cloud services experience. BS, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar degree. Experience in either Compute virtualization, Cloud scale storage systems, or networking Strong business and communication skills. Exceptional leadership and people management skills. Solid understanding of core cloud infrastructure, such as compute, virtual networking and storage. Strong distributed systems architecture and design skills.
