The role will be part of a global team located in Salt Lake City, Utah, Irvine, California and Shenzhen China, and will involve collaboration with partners and colleagues outside normal working hours. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electrical engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Oversee project assignments, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to meet project deadlines. Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and practices. Product Development: Lead the design and development of electronic circuits and systems for Mophie products, from concept to mass production. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Firmware Engineering to ensure product functionality and quality. Ensure all designs meet safety, regulatory, and performance standards. Will be responsible for developing and maintaining technology roadmap that supports a multi-tier product portfolio; value, core, innovation and wow Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support for complex electrical engineering problems. Review and approve technical documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, and testing protocols. Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the product line. Project Management: Provide technical support to multiple engineering projects simultaneously, enabling on-time and within-budget delivery. Coordinate Product Development Managers and wider engineering team to define product requirements, select critical components and resolve technical issues. Prepare and present project updates and reports to senior management. Quality & Compliance: Work with Quality Engineering and Regulatory Compliance team to ensure all products comply with industry standards, including CE, FCC, and other relevant certifications. Work with Quality Director to implement and monitor quality control procedures throughout the development process and product lifecycle This role is based in the Salt Lake City office and is primarily an in-office role, with flexibility to support the ad-hoc nature of global teamwork. Periodic travel to Asia will be required, typically no more than 4 times per year. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. A master's degree is preferred. Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial role or equivalent leadership experience Proven experience in designing and developing consumer electronics with a strong emphasis on designing to cost and quality targets, particularly in power management systems Strong understanding of PCB design, embedded systems, and analog/digital circuit design Experience working with overseas contract development partners and manufacturers Skills: Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Proficient in using CAD software for circuit design (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD). Knowledge of product certification processes (CE, FCC, etc.). Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including with non-native English speakers Preferred Qualifications: Experience with power electronics, battery management systems, or wireless charging technologies.
