Job Description
Johnson County Department of Corrections is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of Youth Correctional Advisor at the Juvenile Services Center in Olathe, Kansas. Qualified applicants will remain as an active candidate for a period of up to 90 days.

Professional Youth Correctional Advisors (YCAs) support all functions within the Juvenile Services Center, including the Juvenile Detention Center where youths, ages 10-17, are detained for allegedly committing serious offenses. YCAs are responsible for overseeing youths in daily activities ensuring safety and security while teaching new skills and managing behaviors. We are a 24-hour, 7 days a week operation. Shift work and overtime is required.
YCAs are direct care staff, continually interacting with youths that are significantly impacted by adverse childhood experiences. Because of traumatization, many youths have not yet learned how to regulate their emotions and thoughts. A youth can become dysregulated quickly, lash out verbally and physically toward peers and/or staff and otherwise engage in self-harming behaviors such as attempting suicide. There are occasions when a youth becomes so dysregulated or becomes combative that physical restraint is necessary. We work with some of the most challenging at-risk youths. As a YCA, you will have the opportunity and responsibility to help shape behaviors and make a positive, lasting change in each youth you interact with. Working directly with youths it is expected of a YCA to:
Build healthy relationships, serving as a role-model for appropriate prosocial behavior and attitudes;
Deploys cognitive behavioral strategies with youths through skill training and role-play exercises to facilitate behavior change;
Uses motivational interviewing techniques to enhance youth's intrinsic motivation;
Teach and model basic expectations such as giving respect to self and others; being on task; acting responsibly; to lead by example; and, to practice safe behaviors;
Provide frequent positive reinforcement; and,
Seek opportunities to teach new behaviors, coping skills, de-escalation techniques and emotion regulation.
Not everyone has what it takes to be a professional Youth Correctional Advisor and work in this profession.
YCAs must believe in rehabilitation, and the idea that youths convicted of crimes can become successful community members;
YCAs must be highly adaptable to changes, exemplify teamwork, and support each function within the Juvenile Services Center;
YCAs must be able to manage their emotions and maintain temperament under stressful conditions; and,
YCAs must possess integrity, professionalism, humility, humor, and respect.
The job is incredibly demanding and challenging at times; but, it is also incredibly rewarding too.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Twenty-one (21) years of age or older and three semester hours (3) of college-level study in adolescent development, psychology or a related subject; or forty-five (45) clock hours in documented training in child care or child development; or one year (1) of experience as a child care worker, house parent or in the human services field in a facility serving youth; possess a high school diploma or its equivalent; successfully pass a criminal history check; and possess a valid driver's license.

We are seeking a Case Manager, Family Preservation Services to join our team.
Salary Range: $44,000 - $46,000
The FPS Case Manager works in the home of the family to teach them the specific skills they need to safely remain together, such as problem-solving skills, crisis management, parenting skills, communication, budgeting, home maintenance, life skills and more. The FPS Case Manager is also responsible for connecting families to community resources to help stabilize them and increase their support system. As a member of the Family Preservation team, you will work with other team members and report to our Manager Family Preservation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
With assistance from a Family Support Worker, carry a caseload of 12-15 families.
Meet at least weekly with families in the home and with each child, alone, at least monthly to address safety, well-being and the family/child's input and progress on case plan activities.
Be available to families to help them with any crisis or conflict that might arise.
Develop Family Case Plan (and Child Case Plan, when necessary) and coach families toward completing case plan tasks.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides immediate and ongoing assistance to Native American victims of crime, including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and elder abuse in Brown County, the Kickapoo Reservation, and surrounding areas. Provides advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, resources and referrals, and case management services to victims.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Identify risk, safety plan, make referrals, coordinate services, and plan for a healthy future by providing case management services and coordinating client needs with collateral agency services.
Responds to calls, walk-ins, and crises. Provide emergency assistance, confer with law enforcement and prosecutors. Assist with court orders, making provisions to meet observed and stated needs within program guidelines. Conducts phone and in-person assessments.
Networks with service agencies to inform and educate regarding the impact of violence in tribal communities, inform and educate community partners regarding the unique experience of Native Americans experiencing violence and the system responses to them, promote the TVS Program, brainstorm, and suggest options and alternatives for victims.
Organize data and victim information; enter data into the confidential data management system.
Assist in developing, coordinating, and delivering culturally relevant community outreach, awareness, and education services in venues such as health fairs, community events, in-service trainings, workshops, community meetings, informative presentations, and awareness campaigns; and coordinate and facilitate support groups while managing volunteer support systems within the service area.
Identify the needs of the service participants and respond by developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating services provided to victims through TVS.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Social Services Director.
Requirements:
At a minimum, hold an associate degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or other social service-related field or a High School Diploma/GED and certification as an advocate. One year of similar or related experience advocating for individuals in need of assessments, referrals, support services, and case management.
Preferred qualifications include two or more years providing direct services to victims while working in advocacy and a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, or another social service-related field.
Have a valid Kansas driver's license free of restrictions. Must be insurable by KTIK and hold current automobile insurance.

petitions; and makes referrals for further assistance.
Coordinates restitution when financial loss has occurred; acts as liaison between victim, court services and fee accounting; investigates status of restitution upon request of victim and provide appropriate information and referrals; informs prosecuting attorney when Crime Victims Compensation or insurance company subrogates parties to restitution.
Facilitates a one-hour Domestic Violence Information Session for victims; provides guidance to program volunteers; participates in the development of outreach programs and materials for the public and service providers to educate and help identify the physical and physiological signs of abuse.
Completes special requests by prosecuting attorney; prepares and coordinates victim and witness for court hearings, testimonies, and trials; schedules meetings between prosecutor and victims; notifies victims of charging decisions, case progress and upcoming court procedures; attends first court appearance with Domestic Violence victims.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES:
* Support students in developing positive behavioral, social-emotional, and resiliency skills to help them thrive in school settings.
* Implement and model evidence-based behavior interventions (ex. CHAMPS and utilization of restorative practices), including explicit and intensive behavior instruction for students with significant behavioral or social-emotional needs through an MTSS model.
* Use ongoing assessments, data collection, and progress monitoring to inform interventions and maintain accurate records of student progress.
* Recognize and reinforce positive student behaviors and accomplishments through consistent, meaningful feedback.
* Collaborate with administrators, social workers, MTSS coordinators, counselors, and teachers to design, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans and tiered supports.
* Provide professional development and coaching to school personnel on positive behavior supports, reinforcement systems, growth-mindset, and behavior-management strategies.
* Review building-level SEL data, behavior referrals, and related reports to identify patterns, support decision-making, and assist with schoolwide practices.
* Provide transition and integration support for students who are new to the school or experiencing school adjustment difficulties.
* Engage families in the behavior-intervention process through communication, consultation, and home/school support strategies that strengthen student success.
* Conduct outreach to re-engage disconnected families and connect them with needed school or community resources.
* Serve as a member of multidisciplinary teams to support assessment, intervention planning, and collaborative problem-solving for students with behavioral or social-emotional needs.
* Provide support to building administrators with student supervision, crisis response, or behavior-related needs when assistance is required or when administrators are unavailable.
* Promote effective school-community partnerships and advocate for services that support students and families.

ACT Team Licensed Addictions Counselor

Description of the Role
We are currently seeking a Licensed Addictions Counselor to join our team at The Guidance Center in Leavenworth, KS. In this role, you will be responsible for providing outpatient alcohol/drug evaluation and treatment services to clients participating in the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. You will work closely with clients in the community who have co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness, delivering individualized support through evidence-based treatment approaches.
Responsibilities
Provide intake and readmission services, including offering psychoeducational information on the potential benefits and risks of medically assisted treatment for substance use disorders.
Refer appropriate clients for Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) services to medical staff for further evaluation.
Onboard and orient eligible clients to ACT services, operation, and procedures.
Provide individual, family, and group recovery services, as well as ongoing treatment planning for substance abuse clients.
Collaborate with the medication management team regarding the treatment of clients participating in ACT services.
Provide treatment to alcohol/drug clients referred by specific programs that meet the requirements for those programs in terms of content and duration, including leading weekly SUD Groups.
Offer a minimum of four appointment hours per week after 5 pm; some program needs may require considerably more hours after 5, with corresponding adjustments in start time.
Requirements
Required:
Bachelor's degree in an addiction-related field, psychology, social work, human services, or another related area with 33 credit hours of specific coursework in addiction counseling.
Licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) by the first day of employment.
Two years' experience in providing alcohol/drug assessment and treatment.
Preferred:
Experience working with clients being induced on Suboxone and/or withdrawing from opioids.

Duties and responsibilities include:
* Provides advocacy for a designated caseload of victims; researches and recommends resources and options to address individual needs; makes referrals to community-based programs and resources; ensures services provided are consistent and appropriate with needs; provides emotional support and encouragement to victims and witnesses, including during court proceedings; assists with navigation of the Criminal Justice System and referrals; provides timely information and responses to victim.
* Collects victim information and provides required notifications; processes initial information packet and on-going notifications of court hearings as required by statute; supplies information to court services officer; maintains statistical data for periodic review and reporting; provide assistance to victims in filing Protection from Abuse Order petitions; and makes referrals for further assistance.
* Coordinates restitution when financial loss has occurred; acts as liaison between victim, court services and fee accounting; investigates status of restitution upon request of victim and provide appropriate information and referrals; informs prosecuting attorney when Crime Victims Compensation or insurance company subrogates parties to restitution.
* Facilitates a one-hour Domestic Violence Information Session for victims; provides guidance to program volunteers; participates in the development of outreach programs and materials for the public and service providers to educate and help identify the physical and physiological signs of abuse.
* Completes special requests by prosecuting attorney; prepares and coordinates victim and witness for court hearings, testimonies, and trials; schedules meetings between prosecutor and victims; notifies victims of charging decisions, case progress and upcoming court procedures; attends first court appearance with Domestic Violence victims.
