General Sheet Metal company history timeline

1945

Capital Sheet Metal Works first opened in downtown Sacramento in 1945.

1960

1960 - The Bessemer converter gets replaced by the Basic Oxygen Furnace.

1962

Woodard purchased Capital Sheet Metal Works from Albert Pagni in August of 1962.

1963

Hammill dropped the word “Works” from the business license in 1963.

1967

1967: The National Union of Sheet Metal Workers and Coppersmiths merges with the Heating and Domestic Engineers' Union, renaming itself the National Union of Sheet Metal Workers, Coppersmiths, Heating and Domestic Engineers.

1970

In February 1970, Apollo Sheet Metal opened the doors to a 2,500-square-foot shop on Charlotte Road in North Vancouver.

1970 - Air bending becomes more mainstream.

1971

1983

1983: The National Union of Sheet Metal Workers, Coppersmiths, Heating and Domestic Engineers merges into the Techincal, Administrative, and Supervisory Section (TASS), a British trade union.

1992

In 1992, the company moved into “Apollo 1,” a 34,000-square-foot, custom-built shop that would become the first in a three-building development that launched the business into high production.

1995

Kenneth Hammill Jr. took over the operations of Capital Sheet Metal after the passing of his father in 1995.
