Gila County company history timeline

1881

When Gila was first created a county organization (1881), there was not a single church within its boundaries, though the Latter-day Saints (Mormons) held meetings in private houses.

1889

The boundary was then extended eastward to the San Carlos River by public petition in 1889.

1891

1911

Dwight's great grandfather first settled in the Roosevelt area, the original ranch, the Hay Hook Ranch, was just 3 miles from where the dam was built in 1911.

1925

They married in 1925 and bought the land adjoining John's present home and the sheep trail.

1990

The lowest recorded temperature in the city is 12 °F (−11 °C), which occurred the same year the first time the record high was reached—December 23, 1990.

2000

He was the pastor of First Presbyterian Church for 38 years from the mid-60s to 2000.

2012

The 2012 population estimate for the Town of Winkelman is 348.
