Role Description

Follow a layout to place computer-generated vinyl or full color graphic image(s) on a pre-determined substrate or medium.
Prepare substrates for application. This may include cutting, painting, laminating, cleaning and maintaining the substrates for application.
Maintain and operate printer(s) as required. Printers may include solvent ink, latex ink and/or UV curable ink.
Weed excess vinyl from computer cut images. Weeding techniques vary with size, type of vinyl and complexity of image. Know how and when to use each technique.
Perform quality assurance measures pre- and post-construction by accurately reading and interpreting a Work Order and then proofing for errors or unacceptable standards (bubbles, rough edges, loose seams).
Perform finishing operations such as laminating, encapsulating, and/or mounting of printed pieces.
Install signs when necessary.
Operate the laminator while maintaining proper fit and settings. Thread laminating or encapsulating material onto the machine, set temperature, pressure, and side guides for proper feeding of material.
Help unload raw materials; clean and maintain storage areas.
Maintain production rate consistency; meet or exceed established minimum rates per hour.
Work on different projects simultaneously.

This project focuses on understanding the evolution of structure and chemistry at charged solid-liquid interfaces during liquid-solid phase transformations under controlled temperature gradients. The successful candidate will be a creative experimentalist who can design and build custom, non-commercial apparatus compatible with synchrotron scattering and imaging techniques at the Advanced Photon Source.
Candidates with prior experience in developing operando electrochemical cells and/or temperature-controlled experimental platforms are strongly preferred. The appointee will also support related efforts in materials synthesis (e.g., atomic layer deposition) and materials characterization (e.g., atomic force microscopy). Key responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, analyzing and interpreting complex datasets, and disseminating results through presentations at scientific conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Beyond the primary research scope, the appointee will have opportunities to contribute to related projects in geochemistry, materials synthesis, and separation processes.

SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility and began black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. What We're Seeking:
SWD Inc., located in Addison, IL. is looking for a Spring 2026 CAD Intern! We are looking for current students pursuing a Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Engineering, CAD design, or a related field. This internship will be 100% on-site in Addison, IL. You must be able to commute to our facility. This internship is PAID at $18.00 per hour.
This internship will span over the Spring semester (January- May). However, we are flexible on the starting and ending dates depending on your classes and schedule. Hours are flexible! We know you have classes and homework to complete. Hours will range between 15-20 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Creating, modifying, and updating 2D and 3D models and drawings using CAD software
Updating existing drawings and models based on design changes and specifications
Entering and organizing data related to projects, drawings, and files
Gaining practical experience in CAD software, drafting techniques, and project workflows
Identifying and resolving potential issues in drawings and models, and communicating them to supervisors
Qualifications:
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, or similar software is helpful
Ability to understand technical plans, diagrams, and specifications
Accuracy and precision are essential for CAD work
Ability to identify and resolve issues in drawings and models
