Obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations. Ordering and evaluating appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies. Acts as a role model and in selected situations precepts clinical staff and other advanced practice health care professionals. Participates in activities that contribute to the education of patients and families, and other health care professionals including educational presentations. Performs all duties and functions in strict compliance of the clinic's Corporate Compliance Plan, and all applicable federal, state, local, and regulatory agencies. Exhibits knowledge of Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding guidelines and demonstrates appropriate application of those guidelines as evidenced by accurate E&M coding. Exhibits awareness of managed care and health plan requirements in respect to prescription formularies, precertification requirements for lab or diagnostic tests, participating facilities, and medical necessity criteria. Utilizes appropriate health and medical resources to coordinate treatment plans for patient per requirements of the managed care plans where applicable. Assumes responsibility and accountability for time management, professional relationships, and interpersonal interactions within the job setting. Maintains and enhances current level of knowledge and ability relative to pediatric health care and health care delivery in the private practice setting. Maintains continuing education requirements necessary for licensure and certifications. Maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations. Performs related duties as required.     The PCA is a non-skilled worker that may possess a certificate of training either formally (i.e., Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or in-house formal training; competency and assessment by an experienced RN, licensed by the state of South Carolina or an experienced LPN, with at least 3 years of experience). The training and supervisory will be under the direction of an RN. There will be subsequent supervisory assessments of PCA services 30 days after initiation of services; then at least every 90 days thereafter, one of which the PCA must be present in the home. Primary Functions of Job: To service elderly and/or disabled adults and children. Under no circumstances will any type skilled medical service be performed by a PCA. Essential job functions: Support for activities of daily living *eating *bathing (bed bath, bench shower, sink/sponge bath) *personal grooming including dressing *personal hygiene *provide necessary skincare *meal planning and preparation *assisting clients in and out of bed *repositioning clients as necessary *assisting with ambulation *toileting and maintaining continence Home Support *cleaning *laundry *shopping *home safety *errands The PCA will also monitor the client's condition.
