Legacy Partners is a private firm that specializes in real estate development and property management. The national firm creates an atmosphere that is more like being with family rather than being at work.
Diving Into the Values at Legacy Partners
Each of the 350 employees of Legacy Partners is an integral part of the organization. Independently and collectively they have the flexibility and opportunity to make a difference in their employment with Legacy Partners -- and that may be why when employees join Legacy Partners, they never want to leave. The average executive team tenure is more than 25 years, the average for corporate team members is 14 years and onsite employees is four years. The numbers speak for themselves in that this is truly a remarkable place to work.
The large tenured team at Legacy Partners has unparalleled knowledge and experiences in all markets the firm operates within. With a hands-on and open door policy, the corporate team at Legacy is an extension of the community team.
We spoke with Director of Marketing Kim Baker about the family-like culture that keeps employees around year after year.
We Are Family
Lean on Me in Times of Need
"We're all here trying to help each other and provide support," Baker said. "In times of need you can lean on others. That's why I think of Legacy Partners as a family company." With the open-door policy, no one is afraid to speak up. Whether you need help with a project or you're dealing with something personal, there is always going to be someone there for you.
"You can tell anyone the good and the bad, and you will be heard. The organization in general is truly supportive," Baker said. The employees there will stop at nothing to help each other figure out a solution to the problem -- or help each other find who would be able to help.
Not uncommon in today's workforce, Legacy Partners employees both wear multiple hats and assume a breadth of responsibilities. But, with our team approach, you never have to worry about getting help. "You can easily communicate to your manager or other teammates if you need help," Baker said.
For instance, right now they have two employees who are out on medical leave. "We totally support that and have been reaching out. And we have other employees who have stepped up to help out," Baker said. "We have each other's backs." I do not see the value of this being included.
"At Legacy Partners everyone enjoys work because it feels like you're hanging out with your family," Baker said.
Selfless Family Atmosphere
Focused on Giving Back
Every employee at Legacy Partners, from the executive team on down, is dedicated to giving back to their community. "They're always donating to charities," Baker said. Of recent, the firm helped a single mom who was going to college with two jobs.
The mom and her son were living in a two-bedroom apartment with only a bed mattress. So, while the two of them were away one day, the employees at Legacy Partners decked out the apartment. They installed drapes, dining room furniture, bath accessories, toys for the son, a crib, and so much more.
"We wanted to give them a sense of home," Baker said, tearing up. "We really like to give back here."
They also host a GSM invitational golf charity event every year on behalf of a former employee who passed away while battling cancer. "He was family. I think it's great that we recognize him through this great charity event," Baker said.
Family Parties
Did Someone Say Party?
Throughout the year, Legacy Partners throws parties to celebrate all holidays. At year end, each employee receives a holiday bonus along with a White Elephant party. Recently, 6-7 people were promoted within and were then recognized at a Holiday Luncheon.
They also love hosting potlucks. Every year at Thanksgiving they have a huge potluck. And during Halloween, they have pumpkin carving. The firm also hosts contests randomly to get people excited about upcoming projects and lots of team building opportunities that employees are encouraged to take part in.
At Legacy Partners, every employee is encouraged to grow professionally. Whether it's talking with a mentor, training to move into a different position, or attending two to three conferences a year, the company makes sure to provide only the best career resources for its employees.
The firm even offers a rent discount program for their onsite employees. And many of the offices allow employees to dress professionally, but casually. "It's a nice perk that you don't have to be so formal all the time," Baker said.
With all of these perks and the family atmosphere, it's easy to understand why so many love working at Legacy Partners.
