About the Role:
Midea Americas is seeking a Compliance Counsel / Senior Compliance Counsel to support the company's regulatory product compliance and product safety programs for home appliances and related consumer products.
This role will focus on ensuring products meet applicable U.S. federal and state safety, regulatory, environmental and labeling requirements throughout the product lifecycle - from design and sourcing through launch and post-market monitoring. The position reports to the Chief Compliance Counsel and will be expected to work closely with engineering, quality, supply chain and product management teams.
This is a hands-on role ideal for a compliance professional with experience in regulated consumer products and home appliances who is looking to broaden their technical regulatory expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory and Product Compliance:
Provide legal guidance on U.S. federal and state product compliance requirements regulated by various government agencies including e.g., the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and Federal Trade Commission.
Coordinate internal compliance efforts across Legal, Engineering, Quality, Product Management, and Supply Chain teams to help ensure regulatory requirements are identified, documented, and addressed throughout the product lifecycle, escalating issues to senior counsel and management as appropriate.
Product Safety and Risk Management:
Support product safety and product liability risk management efforts, including review of potential hazards, safety incidents, and consumer complaints.
Assist with interactions with the regulators, including helping to respond to consumer inquiries, supporting document collection and responses in connection with regulator inquiries or investigations.
Pre-Market Legal Review:
Support legal review of new products and product changes to ensure regulatory and safety requirements are identified and addressed prior to commercialization.
Standards and Certifications:
Provide legal support related to third-party testing, certifications, and listings (e.g., UL, ETL, CSA), including review of testing documentation and certification obligations.
Regulatory Monitoring and Guidance:
Monitor developments in product safety laws, regulations, standards, and enforcement trends, and provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
Documentation and Governance:
Assist with maintaining regulatory documentation, internal legal guidance, and compliance records related to product safety and regulatory obligations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Admission to at least one U.S. state bar; New Jersey bar admission is a plus.
Experience:
3-5 years of legal experience, including in-house and/or law firm experience, advising on product compliance, product safety, regulatory matters, or consumer protection law preferred.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $93,000.00 - $134,000.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the base pay target range for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
