Why Teach in Houston County
Houston County, TN, is a small school district with approximately 1,300 students attending four campuses, resulting in a low student-to-staff ratio. ?A county population of roughly 8,400 and one high school fosters the sense of community that is often lacking in larger districts. Join us and teach where smaller classes, tighter teams, opportunities for advancement, and a safe, spirited campus culture come standard, so you can focus on what matters most: helping every student succeed.
About Houston County, Tennessee
Tucked amid the Highland Rim's rolling hills, Houston County is a rural county of 8,283 residents, offering small-town warmth and elbow room in equal measure. The county seat of Erin bursts with Irish pride each March during the annual Irish Day Celebration that fills Main Street with parades, live music, and more than 150 vendors. Kentucky Lake and the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area are just minutes away, offering opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, and camping. Despite a wealth of recreation, the cost of living here sits comfortably below the U.S. average. Residents enjoy quick access to big-city amenities, too - Nashville is only about 54 miles away, with its international airport, professional sports, and world-class arts. Families appreciate Houston County School District's small classes and community-focused culture. As part of the Tennessee Department of Education's Mid-Cumberland CORE Region, HCSD staff benefit from robust regional professional learning networks.
In Houston County, you can trade traffic for tranquility without giving up opportunity--a place where porch sunsets, supportive neighbors, and career growth come standard.
About Tennessee Ridge and TRES
Tennessee Ridge's low population density, approximately 355 people per square mile, provides ample outdoor space for its citizens. The town's average elevation of 742 feet, once part of an ancient ridge dividing the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers, offers a unique backdrop of rolling fields and woodlands.
As one of two elementary campuses in the Houston County School District, TRES prides itself on a small, collaborative faculty that blends veteran expertise with fresh perspectives to design engaging, standards?aligned instruction. Family and civic involvement are woven into the school's culture through events like literacy nights, academic showcases, and PTO fundraisers that bring the broader community onto campus. In this supportive environment, teachers can focus on what matters most-nurturing each student's academic and personal growth, backed by a network of engaged parents, local businesses, and civic organizations.
You can view the full job description here.

College & Career Preparation: Prepare students for the intellectual rigor and independence required for post-secondary success while forming them as leaders who will serve the Church and world

Academic Excellence: Deliver challenging, engaging instruction that develops critical thinking, clear communication, and deep understanding in your discipline
Hopeful Vision: Approach each student with the conviction that they are created for greatness in this life and eternal joy in the next, calling forth their gifts and potential
Missional Commitment: Contribute generously to the life of the school community through liturgies, service, faculty development, mentorship, and school traditions
Qualities We Value

Intellectually Engaged: Demonstrates passion for your discipline and commitment to staying current in your field
