The MedicalAssistant 2 is the first point of contact for patient care. Responsible for administrative duties in addition to patient care. The MedicalAssistant 2 performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments. Typically works on semi-routine assignments.
The MedicalAssistant 2 performs clinical duties such as discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, medication/vaccine administration, phlebotomy, collecting specimens, performing diagnostic screening tests, sterilizing/cleaning equipment, maintaining examination rooms, and documenting information into the electronic medical records system. Collaborates closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers. Delivers direct patient care dependent on what active certification allows. Decisions typically focus on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments. Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has latitude over prioritization/timing, and works under minimal direction. Follows standard policies and procedures that allow opportunity for interpretation/deviation and/or independent discretion.

Major Responsibilities:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis.
Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills.

5. Ensures shot room task box is empty daily and all task requests are addressed within 48 hours from initial request.
6. Delegates as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act. Refers to/consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
7. Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.
8. Supervises and gives guidance to clinical staff in decision-making regarding patient care.
9. Works as a vital part of CAAC's leadership team to ensure clinical quality measures for the shot room.
10. Performs assigned administrative duties pertaining to the shot room.
