    The Sales Rep is responsible for managing and developing a sales territory consisting of Independent Agencies of more complex profiles. Responsibilities include building relationships with agencies, optimizing growth potential of assigned agencies, prospecting and appointing new agencies, exceeding or meeting year over year goal objectives, utilizing Mercury sales tools, developing competitor intelligence, and collaborating with team members on product, pricing, and agency management decisions. This field based position will be supporting our North OC and San Gabriel Valley territory. An in-person interview may be required during the hiring process. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: • Results based planning for weekly in person or virtual sales calls within assigned agency assignments. • Provides timely feedback and recommendations to management concerning market conditions, service levels and effectiveness of Company programs • Responds to telephone and written correspondence, comments, questions, and concerns from agents and/or customers. • Effectively identifies and vets potential agency prospects. Selects agencies where mutually beneficial relationships will produce profitable business from the agency with the Company. • Assists management with special assignments outside of established responsibilities. • Successfully completes seminars/courses to enhance contributions to the team through application of expanded knowledge and skills. • Assists with interviews and/or trains new hired employees as needed. • Responsible for profitable development of agencies within assigned agency assignments. • Influences agents to quote and sell Mercury products to customers. • Executes the sales strategy of growing Mercury market share within assigned territory. • Adjusts sales tactics based on company goals and climate of the industry • Coordinate with other team members and departments to optimize company sales goals • Provide mentoring and training to less experienced sales representatives • Maintain a well-developed pipeline of agent prospects • Articulates a need-based sales process that is mutually beneficial and identifies solutions to agency needs. • Effectively understands and considers differences and complexity with assigned agencies. • Completes strategic plan for assigned agencies to identify opportunities and potential challenges. • Shows initiative and the ability to resolve a variety of complex issues with minimal supervision. • Has thorough knowledge of Mercury's systems and point of sales platform and can assist agencies when needed. • Ensure that agency teams are fully trained. • Understands Mercury focus, business appetites and capitalizes on opportunities to sell Mercury products. • Articulates company position and seeks out business with appropriate agencies to meet objectives. • Drives results through regular contact with assigned agencies, utilizing effective communication backed with data and metrics to achieve a mutually agreed upon plan. Holds agency owners accountable for mutually agreed upon goals. • Able to communicate and explain difficult situations and achieve buy-in. • Provides consistent follow-up and follow through with agency partners and Mercury team members. • Utilizes data analytic tools to coach agents on overall performance in assigned territory • Successfully completes seminars/courses to enhance contributions to the team through application of expanded knowledge and skills. • May assist in the hiring process and in training of new team members. • Gathers competitor intel • May require attendance to group conventions and/or tradeshows. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: • Bachelor's Degree required • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (as determined by Company policy) required.
