Enterprise Platform Engineering Services (EPES) is a region of Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) that is responsible for three of Navy Federal Credit Union's anchor platforms. The EPES Center of Excellence is a team that streamlines and standardizes operations with EPES and with its partners so that there is a high degree of transparency and collaboration among all stakeholders. It is focused on operational governance, collaborative best practices and events, measurement of processes and outcomes, and delivery of special projects as needed by leadership. The roots of the EPES COE team are from the Automation Center of Excellence that was the foundation of citizen development at Navy Federal Credit Union and established the first Center of Excellence for the enterprise. This COE enabled both professional and amateur technologists to leverage standardized tools, training, documentation and procedures to build solutions for business problems together with transparency and governance.
The Summer Associate will help enable new development frameworks with governance, using EPES anchor platforms, for both ETS and partner organizations. This may include the business, and the work will be done with diversity of stakeholders in various organizations across the enterprise. It will be a role that is a lightweight version of technical project management, with some hands-on technical development as needed.
The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later.
Enrolled in and successfully pursuing a bachelor degree in computer science, management information systems, artificial intelligence, business, operations or organizational management.
Highly articulate in written, spoken and audience presentation channels/settings
Experienced in communications with large audiences
Hands-on experience in programming (e.g., Java, Python, C++ or others)

Collaboratively draft content for RACIs, guidebooks, playbooks, templates, MS Office documents or other assets that can be utilized by a broad team of stakeholders, developers or leaders
Support event and broad communications management within EPES
Support training initiatives for stakeholders and/or customers as needed
Conduct research on technical best practices to inform governance models
