Job Description
As an Assistant Engineer at Olsson, you will support a variety of routine engineering tasks that enhance your technical knowledge and familiarity with industry practices, tools, and team collaboration. This entry-level position supports the creation of impactful, high-quality design solutions that tackle real-world engineering challenges, with a focus on railroad structures within the rail industry. This role would require relocation to Omaha, Nebraska.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in designing practical solutions for engineering problems, with a strong focus on structural elements in the railroad industry.
Perform entry-level plan production with clearly defined instructions.
Gain experience working within design and modeling software.
Support senior staff with project schedules and technical engineering calculations.
Contribute to limited portions of broader projects under direct supervision.
Gather and prepare research for technical reports.
Provide mentoring to student interns by answering questions and guiding routine assignments.
Travel and work in various terrain and weather conditions at project sites in different construction stages.
Qualifications You bring to the team:
Strong communication skills
Ability to contribute and work well on a team
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
Must possess or obtain Engineer Intern certificate (EI)
Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
Survey and/or structure design background preferred
Experience in MicroStation, Risa 3D analysis, and Bluebeam Revu preferred
Expectations:
Adept in verbal and written communication
Solid interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to diligently research applicable requirements and regulations
Advanced mathematical and analytical abilities

Job Description
Immediate opening for full-time, degreed Engineers at Hornady Manufacturing. These positions are members of the Engineering Department, which provides design, research & development, product improvements and manufacturing support to the multiple business units at Hornady Manufacturing. Onsite positions in Grand Island, NE.
Hornady Engineers focus on design work, production efficiency, waste reduction, and ensuring product quality. Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical components using 3D CAD software
Analyze designs using engineering principles and simulation tools to ensure Hornady quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, production control, sales, tool room, compliance and other departments.
Troubleshoot issues in manufacturing processes and equipment.
Conduct testing/validation to ensure products and processes meet specifications.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports in company archive systems.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Ideal candidates for this position will bring a depth of knowledge to the table and be up for new challenges that the hunting & shooting industry provides. Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
At least 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, and testing desired
Proficient in 3D CAD software (prefer Solid Works) and technical design
Familiarity with manufacturing of ammunition preferred
Experience in hunting/shooting sports helpful
Knowledge of automation, PLCs, and mechatronics a plus
Experience with forming and heat treating steel components desired
Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and teamwork are essential
