Fellow will work on one NIH-funded and one private foundation funded translational project, employing rat and non-human primate (NHP) models of PD. The NIH funded studies involve examining the ability of a recombinant adeno associated virus (AAV)-mediated short hairpin RNA (sh RNA) to provide potent, target-selective mRNA-level silencing of striatal and/or substantia nigra CaV1.3 channels to provide disease modifying and pharmacotherapy enhancing benefits. These studies are aimed at understanding the molecular, anatomical and functional consequences associated with this gene modulation in producing functional efficacy, with the goal of bringing this therapy to clinical application. The private foundation funded project involves extensive, fast-paced postmortem analyses of NHP samples examining the potency and safety a variety of humanized RNA-interference viral vectors. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution * 1+ years experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment * Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This 1st shift DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN position will be located in our Research and Development Facility. Primary responsibilities will include: * Multi-faceted role to assist with processes in a rapid tooling lab as well as in the manufacturing of prototype ceramic cores and wax patterns * Operate injection molding machines, and process prototype parts as required to meet customer requirements * Occasionally tasked with tooling and product inspections, both manual as well as with structured light scanning * Operate equipment in a rapid prototyping tooling environment, primarily additive (3D printing) in nature. * Responsible for standardizing/documenting procedures * Work closely with engineering and other technicians, with a common goal of producing quick turn core, pattern and casting solutions in support of both internal and external development projects. * Communicate with numerous groups and juggle priorities in fast paced environment. * Performs and documents a variety of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting activities, as required. * Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment. * Performs other duties as assigned.
