Summary
The Food Safety Manager is responsible to implement and manage process control systems and preventative actions in the food safety area. Manages HACCP and Regulatory compliance issues. This includes food safety issues that are controlled by SSOP, HACCP or other pre-requisite programs. Develops employees through education, training, monitoring, and mentoring.

In this role you will:
Ensure that all required environmental reports are submitted to the appropriate regulatory agency in a timely and accurate manner and that environmental permits are kept current
Provide guidance in developing, implementing and documenting required HS&E training for site personnel
Work with safety professionals and others at this location, and utilize Corporate and outside resources, to develop, implement and manage programs that will improve the safety of all employees and help ensure regulatory compliance
Act as a liaison with Local, State, and Federal Regulatory Agencies on matters relating to Safety and Environmental regulatory compliance and is a resource for interpretation of OSHA and EPA regulations
Coordinate the development of Annual Safety Plan, working with plant and corporate personnel, that establishes defined goals and time frames that will improve employee safety, meet regulatory requirements, and control safety related costs
Solicit involvement of appropriate members of the work force to form teams that will address specific safety and environmental issues. This will serve to maintain and encourage employee involvement.
Support internal and external HS&E Key Element assessments
Coordinate and report metrics related to HS&E performance and compliance
Implement and sustain Corporate HS&E Standards
Participate, coordinate, lead, communicate and follow-up on monthly HS&E Leader conference calls
Ensure consistency in all personnel practices and actions
Manage and maintain site emergency response program and business continuity plan
Manage employee health programs and worker's compensation for the plant
Manage site security programs and initiatives such as procedures for guards; site security systems, cameras, employee badges; and other security measures
Assist with training and qualifying site HS&E resources
Assist with site policy and procedure development, implementation, and enforcement
Work closely with leadership of plant to ensure cross department coordination and collaboration to maximize HS&E results

Enterprise Safety Leadership
Own the enterprise safety strategy, annual operating plan, and governance across field, manufacturing, fleet, and corporate environments.

Perform safety audits of the job sites to ensure compliance to all Corporate, Site-Specific as well as all Federal, State and Local requirements.
Investigate all safety hazards and work closely with management at all levels to resolve any safety issues.
Function as part of the jobsite management team to promote a culture of safety, quality and production.
Ensure that all recommendations for safety improvements are made in a timely manner.
Complete and submit all safety documentation as required.
Drive and instill a group culture of safety that embraces continuous improvement.
Review documentation of Near Misses, First Aid, and Recordable Injuries - develop and enhance trainings to ensure all Near Misses/First Aids do not turn into future recordables.
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION
OSHA 30 Required - 500 Outreach Trainer Preferred
Minimum 3+ years' experience as a safety professional

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) assists in the planning, management, and support of the functional area of environmental safety and health (ES&H) for assigned project(s). Establish and maintain contact with the Project Manager, Corporate ES&H Manager, and others as required to fulfill health and safety commitments on assigned projects. Anticipate potential safety-related problem areas and evaluate and recommend solutions or corrective actions.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
College degree in science, engineering, health & safety, or related discipline or demonstrated field experience in applied occupational health and safety, emphasizing industrial hygiene (IH) cross-training.
A current, instructor-signed OSHA 30-hour General Industry Safety Training safety class certification and verification of annual 8-hour competency training and/or self-study (As required by EM 385-1-1 Section 1 Subsection 01.A.17. Valid First Aid and CPR.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience supervising general construction, five (5) years of constant general industry safety experience managing safety programs, or five years of experience and a Third-Party, nationally accredited SOH-related certification.
Knowledge of applicable government health and safety regulations and standards, including EM 385-1-1 (November 2014).
Demonstrated experience with event investigations, issues management/action tracking for safety and IH subject areas.
Ability to develop and implement corrective action plans due to identified issues.
Demonstrated industrial hygiene (IH) knowledge and other health and safety requirements.
Demonstrated ability to monitor work activities, evaluate health and safety conditions, and facilitate corrective actions.
Ability to prepare safety-specific documents independently, including project-specific safety plans and Activity/Job Hazard Analysis. Ability to identify and monitor for industrial hygiene issues.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to review, evaluate, and develop appropriate health & safety and IH policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with craft personnel, project management, and client representatives is essential.
Ability to manage injuries and illnesses as well as accident prevention.

Recommend to supervision that Notices of Non-Compliance be issued and follow-up to ensure corrective actions, as stipulated and approved by supervision, are implemented.
Conduct accident investigations, OSHA/MSHA compliance audits, project health surveys, and insurance audits. Take photographs and prepare reports as required.
Communicate potential IH issues to the General Manager/ES&H Manager.
Anticipate and provide technical direction to project personnel on potential IH and occupational safety problem areas and evaluate, recommend, and implement solutions or corrective actions.
Research and provide training material, and assist in conducting safety, health, fire orientation, and other OSHA training.
Provide supervision, as required, to craft and/or administrative personnel regarding health and safety.
Enforce a stop work when safety concerns/issues arise.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must spend the majority of the workday in the field with project personnel.
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
Ability to walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
Ability to perform repetitive movements of the fingers, hands, wrists, and arms.
Ability to participate in physically demanding work while wearing personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
Medically qualified to wear a respirator, able to lift 30 lbs., and able to climb ladders.

Maintain working-level relationships with other participating entities responsible for ES&H in the Program.
