We are growing our workforce to develop and deploy our Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) small modular nuclear plant to provide cost-competitive, clean firm heat and power to industry. Have the specific skillset and experience for the following role: The Safety Analysis Engineer, under the direction of Safety Manager, is critical to demonstrating the safety characteristics of Terrestrial Energys IMSR technology and supporting regulatory licensing activities. The successful candidate is primarily responsible for performing comprehensive safety analyses, developing accident scenarios, and contributing to safety case documentation that demonstrates compliance with regulatory requirements and the inherent safety features of our advanced reactor design. Other Responsibilities Include: Safety Analysis Perform deterministic and probabilistic safety analyses for the IMSR design Develop and analyze Design Basis Accidents (DBAs) and Beyond Design Basis Accidents (BDBAs) Conduct transient and accident analysis using thermal-hydraulic and neutronics codes Evaluate plant response to Postulated Initiating Events Assess the performance of Safety Systems and engineered safety features Analyze dose consequences and radiological release scenarios Perform sensitivity and uncertainty analyses Modeling and Simulation Develop and validate computer models for safety analysis using industry-standard codes Build thermal-hydraulic models of reactor systems and components Perform single and coupled physics simulations Validate models against experimental data and benchmarks Document modeling assumptions, methodologies, and results Regulatory Support Prepare safety analysis chapters for licensing documentation including Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) and Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) for NRC/CNSC licensing Develop DOE-required safety analyses including Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis (PDSA) and Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) in accordance with DOE-STD-3009 Highlight key safety decisions including target performance of structures, systems, and components (SSCs), safety system responses to normal and off-normal operations, and facility security considerations Define classification rules and terminology for safety SSCs, including application of the hierarchy of controls and Defense in Depth principles to ensure safety Perform analysis of most limiting potential dose consequences (e.g., unmitigated or Maximum Hypothetical Accident scenarios) to support Natural Phenomena Hazard (NPH) Natural Design Category (NDC) categorization Support validity assessment of selected safety document format and content, applicability of SSC classifications, and other graded approaches Support regulatory review processes and respond to technical questions from regulatory bodies (CNSC, NRC, DOE) Ensure analyses comply with applicable regulatory requirements and guidance Participate in regulatory meetings and technical discussions Support development of technical specifications and operational limits Documentation and Reporting Prepare detailed technical reports documenting analysis methodologies, assumptions, and results Create clear visualizations and presentations of analysis results Maintain comprehensive documentation of safety analysis activities Contribute to technical publications and conference papers Develop and maintain analysis procedures and quality assurance documentation Collaboration Work closely with Physics, Thermal-Hydraulics, Systems Engineering, and Design Teams Interface with external partners including national laboratories and consultants Participate in design reviews and technical meetings Support integrated safety assessments across multiple disciplines Contribute to continuous improvement of safety analysis methods Requirements Education M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Progression to the highest pay level on the career ladder is dependent upon experience and performance. TJJD addresses the multiple and complex needs of the youth committed to the agency as well as their families through a trauma informed multi-disciplinary integrated approach that includes implementation of the agency approved Texas Model of Trauma Informed Corrections and a Mental Health Treatment Program (MHTP). The MHTP provides enhanced psychiatric and psychological assistance to youth diagnosed with moderate to severe mental health problems and/or illnesses, which allows the general rehabilitation case managers to focus on risk reduction and protective factor enhancement strategies in order to reduce the risk of reoffending. This collaboration allows for holistic and individualized treatment of youth in need of MHTP services. Provides a range of direct psychological services to youth adjudicated delinquent of felony offenses and committed to the agency by a juvenile court. Conducts trauma informed groups, individual, family, trauma, and crisis counseling sessions; and administers and interprets psychological evaluations of youth at risk of suicide or in need of specialized treatment services. Assists in monitoring the agency's Texas Model of Trauma Informed Corrections treatment program, and reviews and monitors specialized treatment programs. Assists with related in-service training for facility staff. Collaborates with facility administrators, specialized treatment, case management or program specialist staff, parole officers, and contracted staff, as well as halfway house staff. Participates in or leads evaluations of programs in high or medium restriction facilities, or contracted programs. Participates in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) staffing for youth transitioning into the community and as they exit the agency system. May train, lead, assign, and/or prioritize the work of others. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per workweek, different shift patterns, be on-call, and travel occasionally. Monitors youth receiving treatment by contracted service providers. Contributes to the development, maintenance, and delivery of in-service training for facility staff as it relates to the agency's rehabilitation and treatment programs. Documents direct services provided to youth and families. Engages in activities designed to enhance professional development and to maintain current licensure or certification. Coordinates and collaborates with program staff in program planning, development, implementation, analysis, and documentation of agency program(s). Provides advice and counsel by interpreting policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and standards related to the program. Assists in developing program policies, procedures, standards, and manuals in accordance with program objectives and goals. May analyze the application of and variations within programs to develop action plans for improving or initiating new programs. Reports any presence or perception of racial, ethnic, and/or gender disparities. Performs a variety of related duties, not listed, determined and assigned, as needed, by the supervisor. Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures: Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible.
