Sandmeyer Steel company history timeline

1952

Since 1952, making “stainless steel, nickel alloy, and titanium plate” has been and remains our only business.

Sandmeyer Steel was founded in 1952 by the late Paul C. Sandmeyer.

1953

The company merged production and office functions at the Cramps Shipyard in 1953.

1985

Like his older brother, Rodney Sandmeyer opted to work elsewhere before joining the family business in 1985.

1997

On October 9, 1997, Ron Sandmeyer, Jr., was elected President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding his father, who continues to serve as Chairman of the Board.

2000

In the summer of 2000, the company introduced its newest technological advance, abrasive waterjet cutting.

2008

Rod was elected Executive Vice President, replacing Paul von Zech, who then held the position of Vice Chairman of the Board until his death in June 2008.
