Job Title: Security Officer - Part Time Department: Safety and SecurityShift: 2nd Shift (3pm-11pm); Saturday's and Sunday'sRate: $25.00Pay Grade: 2FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Under the supervision of the Security Coordinator, the Security Officer will be responsible for monitoring, patrolling, and enforcing security protocols at assigned Pittsburgh Water facilities including the Water Treatment Plant and ancillary facilities. RESPONSIBILITIES• Enforce regulations designed to prevent breaches of security; exercise judgment and use discretion in deciding first response tactics.• Perform routine checks of offices, laboratories, corridors, parking lots, storage sites, and other such locations, as appropriate for each round.• Perform all necessary services to ensure the safety and protection of facility personnel and property against injury, loss, or damage from preventable causes, including, but not limited to, fire, trespass, civil disturbance, theft, acts of terrorism and sabotage.• Open, close, and secure windows and doors; check vaults, cabinets and security doors, as applicable.• Oversee visitor management at assigned Pittsburgh Water facilities; verification of visitors' identification and assignment of visitor badges; screening suspicious visitors, solicitors, and escorting banned visitors from Pittsburgh Water property.• Provide and maintain a high level of security in and around the buildings, and as necessary, assist in emergency management situations, acts of terrorism, bomb threats, internal disorder, civilian demonstrations, or other criminal acts which adversely affect employee security and/or safety, property, and the general public lawfully in the building or on the grounds.• Comply with established procedures pertaining to lost and found articles.• Assist with traffic operations at Pittsburgh Water facilities to control the flow of traffic.• Conduct rover foot patrols, both interior and exterior, as well as motorized patrol (in Pittsburgh Water provided patrol vehicles); respond to fire, intrusion, and other alarms; answer service calls and document all reports of crime, security violations, or incidents; provide emergency first aid and escorts; assist with emergency evacuations; and manage vehicle check points and conduct inspections.• Comply with all legal requirements.• Other related duties as assigned or required. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSThe following requirements list the minimum education/training/experience required to qualify for this job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. SGOs failing to meet the minimum standards during annual requalification be allowed thirty (30) calendar days to successfully meet minimum standards. Security Guards failing to meet requirements after 30 calendar days will be placed on Weapons Restriction. Physical Efficiency Battery: The PEB is a fitness test consisting of three differing components to measure the fitness level of the officer. The PEB is categorized by age and gender and with a graduated (percentile) scale that ranks officer's performance from the highest (99th percentile) to the lowest (1st percentile). As an example, a male between 35 to 39 years old is in the 99th percentile if they have 25.00 inches of flexibility, can push 172.14% of their body weight and can run 1.5 miles in 9:15. The same person would be in the 1st percentile with scores of 10 inches of flexibility, 51.50% of body weight pushed and a 1.5 mile run in 22:00.
