What you'll be doing:
Utilize hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
Ensure safe operation of machinery, mechanical electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.
Follow blueprints, schematics, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
Troubleshoot sources of equipment problems through observation and use of precision measuring and testing instruments.
Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment system testing, record results in logbooks / computer systems and make necessary chemical adjustments as required
Perform daily and weekly safety checks on boilers and make necessary repairs as required.
Record and analyze meter readings of utilities in long and take corrective actions when necessary.
Perform daily and weekly location/system safety checks and follow up to address concerns.
Inspect motor, belts, fluid levels, replace filters and perform other maintenance actions in accordance with maintenance procedures.
Inspect, clean and lubricate shafts, bearings gears and other equipment parts in accordance with work procedures and technical manual.
Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background is preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid driver's license and a safe driving record are required.
Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
Minimum of 6 months' work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment is required. Applicable military experience will be considered.
Must pass UniFirst's maintenance knowledge assessment test to be eligible for employment.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English is required.
Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills is required.
Lockout / Tagout experience is required
Ability to work overtime as needed is required.
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.

Job Description
What You'll Do:
* Assist in the performance of acceptance and installation tests on protection, control, and measurement devices and associated equipment in stations.
* Assist in the installation, maintenance, and operation of all power line carriers, station SCADA, and associated communications equipment or cables as assigned.
* Perform switching under direct supervision of qualified personnel following direction of the proper operating authority.
* Assist in the installation, maintenance, and operation of any new and added equipment or systems as assigned.
* Maintain test equipment and automotive equipment in good working order so that work can be performed safely and efficiently anywhere throughout the System.
* Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports and drawings as required.
* Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
* Perform all duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations, NERC and environmental compliance, and practices.

* Test protection &control devices and equipment periodically and as required.

1. Must satisfactorily complete, in such time frames as may be established by the Company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression or vacate the current classification.
2. Must have the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of the key job (P & C Technician Sr in this family and be qualified through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company.
3.Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.
4. Considerable travel and overtime may be required to complete work assignments.
5. Must successfully complete Physical Abilities Test (PAT)

Gas Technician I's are responsible for the construction, maintenance and operations of the City's gas distribution system Responsibilities * Keep crew truck clean and assist with inventory of parts and supplies to keep the truck stocked * Clean parts and tools and perform daily maintenance and/or calibration of equipment
* Use small hand tools, tapping and stopple equipment
* Perform semi-skilled and common labor work such as paint and/or wrap pipe, cutting and threading pipe, pipe-fitting and assist in other pipeline maintenance as required
* Prepare tap cards and/or various inspection reports and documentation in accordance with Department procedures and/or regulatory requirements.
* Maintains map books
* Assist in pressure tests, purging and putting in service new and existing gas mains in the city Gas distribution system
* Operate a 1 ton truck, 2 ½ ton crew truck, winch truck, dump truck, pick-up truck, pole and float trailers, ditchers, air compressors and welding equipment
* Inspect and operate backhoe, trenching machine, air compressor, and other semi-heavy maintenance and construction equipment
* May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
