GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Leads and behaves according to Potbelly Values. Leads shift by managing and developing associates to execute outstanding product quality and customer service, build sales and control costs for each shift. Follow standard Potbelly operating policies and procedures with essential areas of focus including but not limited to:

* Lead Associates on shifts, including assigning tasks (cleaning, line duties, opening/closing duties), providing feedback and training.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS
* Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 40 hours a week.
* Ability to stand/walk for 8-9 hours per day and sit for 1-2 hours per day.
* Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to five hours.
* Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

* As a requirement of the position, all Shift Leaders and Managers must be trained and pass a Food Safety Certification course. In Illinois certification is required through the Illinois Department of Public Health, while in all other states certification is required through the National Restaurant Association (ServSafe), National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or the National Environmental Health Association (Prometric). Should the Shift Leader or Manager fail to pass the certification requirements after two attempts, he or she will be not be qualified to continue to perform in a Shift Leader or Management capacity.

Job Summary:
An Overflow Shift Lead is responsible for their assigned shift running smoothly, answering questions from their team, collaborating with their team and other shift leads, problem-solving and teaching their staff to do the same, providing necessary training to team members, and ensuring their shift has enough staff present.

Reports to Site Director- maintains clear communication relating to Overflow clients, staff and operations - reports concern, seeks guidance, shares feedback, etc.
Understand and implement Switchpoint's mission, vision and guiding principles.
Adhere to Switchpoint policies and procedures including Code of Conduct, Privacy and Confidentiality, Professional Boundaries, etc.
Maintain a calm demeanor and model positive behavior.
Participates in staff meetings as assigned.
Work with a team to oversee the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the site grounds and buildings.
Provides staff supervision using positive and clear communication to ensure consistency and unity among the team.
Collaborate and communicate regularly with site director, other shift leads and assigned staff to ensure consistency and quality of service.
Conduct Intakes as needed on assigned shift - ensuring site rules and regulations are communicated clearly.
Collaborate and coordinate with other agencies and organizations aiding Overflow clients.
Supervise and promote a safe and healthy environment for Overflow residents.
Provide crisis intervention as needed; de-escalating situations and quickly resolving conflicts with/between residents; being sensitive to recognize symptoms of those who have severe mental health disorders and mental breakdowns.

Shift Leads are responsible for leading, training and communicating with all staff working their assigned shift
Ensure that the Shift Duties are completed on your assigned shift including keeping site clean and safe

Check-in with each team member regularly to provide positive feedback, constructive criticism, set/follow-up on goals, etc.
Complete Personal Improvement Plan with employees when warranted
Staffing & Scheduling
Create the schedule for their assigned shift
Each week's schedule will need to be done by the Sunday prior.
Minimum 5 Support Staff per shift
Each staff should be scheduled for 4-5 shifts per week (Sun-Sat)
Overtime must be approved by Site Director
Ensure that enough staff are present for each shift
All staff should follow the Overflow Absence/Tardy Policy
Once the schedule is posted, staff are responsible to find coverage for assigned shift if they need to call out
Shift Lead and Site Director must be notified of any changes to the schedule
Make sure your team is aware of the following process if they are unable to work their assigned shifts for whatever reason
Maintain a calm demeanor and model positive behavior.

Minimum 2 years' experience in Human Services or a similar field.
Previous experience working with the homeless population in a shelter environment is highly preferred.
Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse issues.
Exhibits a positive and compassionate attitude, sensitivity, and the ability to work well with others in a close residential setting.
Model positive behavior, appropriate boundaries, and the ability to use sound judgment during times of crisis.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.

Summary

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, including, but not limited to the following:
Standing
Most tasks are performed from a standing position. Walking surfaces include ceramic tile "bricks" with linoleum in some food process areas. Height of work surfaces is between 36" and 48".
Walking
· For short distances for short durations
· Delivery personnel must travel between the store and delivery vehicle and from the delivery vehicle to the customer's location.
Sitting
Paperwork is normally completed in an office at a desk or table
Lifting
· Bulk product deliveries are made twice a week or more and are unloaded by the team member using a hand truck.
· Deliveries may include cases of ingredients and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds with dimensions of up to 3' x 1.5'.
· Cases are usually lifted from floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72" high.
Carrying
· Large cans, weighing 3 pounds, 7 ounces, are carried from the workstation to storage shelves.
· Occasionally, pizza sauce weighing 30 pounds is carried from the storage room to the front of the store.
· Trays of pizza dough are carried three at a time over short distances, and weigh approximately 12 pounds per tray.
· During delivery, carry pizzas and beverages while performing "walking" and "climbing" duties.
Pushing
· To move trays which are placed on dollies.
· A stack of trays on a dolly is approximately 24" - 30" and requires a force of up to 7.5 pounds to push.
· Trays may also be pulled.
Climbing
· Team members must infrequently navigate stairs or climb a ladder to change prices on signs, wash walls, perform maintenance.
· During delivery of product, navigation of five or more flights of stairs may be required.
Stooping/Bending
· Forward bending at the waist is necessary at the pizza assembly station.
· Toe room is present, but workers are unable to flex their knees while standing at this station.
· Duration of this position is approximately 30 - 45 seconds at one time, repeated continuously during the day.
· Forward bending is also present at the front counter and when stocking ingredients.
Crouching/Squatting
Performed occasionally to stock shelves and to clean low areas.
Reaching
· Reaching is performed continuously; up, down and forward.
· Workers reach above 72" occasionally to turn on/off oven controls, change prices on sign, and lift and lower objects to and from shelves.
· Workers reaching down to perform such tasks as scooping cornmeal from a plastic barrel, or washing dishes.
· Workers reach forward when obtaining topping ingredients, cleaning work surfaces, or answering phones.
Driving
· Deliver pizzas within a designated delivery area. A Team Member may make several deliveries per shift.
Hand Tasks
· Eye-hand coordination is essential. Use of hands is continuous during the day.
· Frequently activities require use of one or both hands. Shaping pizza dough requires frequent and forceful use of forearms and wrists.
· Workers must manipulate a pizza peel when removing pizza from the oven, and when using the rolling cutter.
· Frequent and/or forceful pinching is required in the assembly of cardboard pizza boxes.
· Team Members must be able to grasp cans, the phone, the pizza cutter and pizza peel, and pizza boxes.
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Work Aids
Team Members may be required to utilize pencils/pens, computers, telephones, calculators, TDD equipment, pizza cutter and pizza peel.

Lead and instruct employees on the Sanitation shift.
Be responsible for specific areas, employees, and tasks.
Clean and sanitize processing equipment, production areas, and surfaces according to company standards and regulatory requirements.
Perform daily duties such as mopping, scrubbing, and drying equipment and facilities, navigating around machine belts, chains, conveyors, and other systems as needed.
Disassemble and reassemble equipment for thorough cleaning, ensuring proper sanitation.
Handle cleaning chemicals and sanitizing agents safely and apply them effectively.
Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and functionality, reporting issues for timely repair.
Manage waste disposal following company policies and environmental regulations.
Maintain accurate sanitation records and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Working in the Sanitation/Clean-up Department you are responsible for nightly sanitation of the entire plant, with primary focus being the cleaning and sanitizing of all machines, equipment, and surfaces.
Position requires applicants to be physically capable of standing/walking 100% of the shift on concrete flooring.
Must be able to bend/lift up to 25 lbs. with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
