Qualifications and Skills
The qualified ASL Interpreter must
possess advanced, accurate voicing skills to mediate both culturally and linguistically from spoken English to American SignLanguage (ASL) and from ASL to spoken English in an equivalent manner.
be familiar with the terminology and provisions of the American Disabilities Act (ADA).
possess skills in a broad range of general interpreting assignments.
possess a general knowledge of a variety of specialized vocabulary including some technical terms associated with the content they are interpreting. This includes but is not limited to specialized medical terminology, supply chain management technical jargon, and business vernacular.

QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications for SignLanguageInterpreter:
· 1 year of verifiable, professional experience as SignLanguageInterpreter within the last 3 years (may include residency or clinical practicum)
· Valid SignLanguageInterpreter credential/license or in process in state of practice
· Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be asked for proof upon hire. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Contract Responsibilities:
Provides consecutive, first-person interpretation.

Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge, as required for various clients, such as medical, legal, social services, etc.
Requirements:
Submission of updated Resume in English at time of Application.
Completion of English Language Proficiency with a language rating of “technical proficiency” (3 or higher on the nationally recognized ILR scale).
Successful completion of a Mock oral interpretation session. Interpreters are evaluated against 24 quality standards and must attain a passing score.
Completion of Propio's online Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology Assessment, with a passing score.
A full Background Check and Security Screen.
A signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of interpreting experience.
