Assist in the preparation of learning aids, Participate in meetings to understand the unique issues of students and plan a team approach for solving these issues. Shares responsibility for the equipment and general appearance of the work area. Accompany and serve as a guide and/or interpreter for participants, professional staff members, and guests as assigned. Duties may require the use of a personal vehicle for travel to field sites, meetings, or events, including travel to Albany, NY, and Washington, D.C., for on-site interpretation. Flexibility with work schedules, including some evening hours and overnight stays, is necessary to meet participants' and staff members' needs. Occasional travel may be required. REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required Bachelor's degree. Required ITP (Interpreting Training Program- must have passed written RID test) RID/NAD NIC Knowledge test must have passed. Two or three years of interpreting experience with individuals who are DeafBlind and/or deaf-visually impaired. Must obtain RID/NAD NIC certification within 5 years of employment. Proficiency in methods of communication utilized by individuals who are DeafBlind. Some evening hours will be scheduled based upon students or staff needs and must be flexible with travel when needed.
