RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY: Perform a full range of educational/non-educational duties for the specific intensive needs of primarily one student. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Provide instructional and behavioral support in all academic and related areas as directed by the teacher primarily for an individual student. Provide support to special education teacher such as preparing materials, assist in the implementation of IEP (Individualized Education Plan), provide input into the IEP when appropriate, deliver instructional materials for individual students, keep attendance and activity records, collect data for progress monitoring, and implement behavior intervention plans. Administer all medications, within the guidelines of District Policy JLCD to students and document appropriately as identified in District policy. District Area Nurse will delegate medication administration to Para-Educator. Para-Educator will follow medication administration protocols and guidelines under the Department of Health Services and will be monitored, documented, and audited by the District Area Nurse. Perform assigned lunch/recess/bus duties which include supervision in the cafeteria, playground and pre/post boarding of buses. Perform health and personal need duties as directed by teacher or nurse, including bathroom assistance, diapering, feeding and lifting students. Apply de-escalation strategies and manage classroom behavior. Perform restraints, if required or applicable, after attending district approved trainings. Participate in required Medicaid and Random Moment in Time Study provider trainings. Document personal care and/or delegated nursing services on a regular basis in EZEDMed system for Medicaid reimbursement purposes. Maintain confidential information as directed. Provide support for any student as directed. Attend district-provided trainings and professional development as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. The program will run Full Days for 7 hours Monday through Thursday, from June 1st, 2026 through June 25th, 2026 (there are no classes on Thursday, June 18th) at the following sites: * Rising K: All Elementary sites * Elementary Sites: Emerald, Lafayette, Foothill and Flatirons * Middle School Sites: Louisville Middle Responsibilities: * Planning and Preparation: Facilitates learning experiences and teaches the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum; utilizes innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students; and plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom using the approved District instructional model and adhering to state and school district curriculum guidelines. * Assessment: Utilize a Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning; assess student proficiency using formal and informal assessment tools; differentiate assessments based on individual needs; provide timely feedback and targeted interventions; plan and consistently deliver instruction that draws on results of student assessments; anticipate student misconceptions and plan lessons accordingly; report grades. * Learning Environment: create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment in which all students see themselves represented in the classroom and understand the behavioral expectations; implements procedures and routines that maximize student learning; respond to student misconduct in a respectful manner using restorative practices; actively seek a variety of perspectives; demonstrate mutual respect for peers and adults in a variety of contexts; and communicate and involve parent/guardians in all aspects of their child's education. * Equity: create and support a culture of equity and inclusion that values, accepts, and understands diversity and the impact of culturally responsive practices. Understand and identify barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students. * Parent/Family Connections: develop positive relationships with parents/families; encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents; provide proactive, clear and constructive feedback to families about student progress and work collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students; and foster two way communication with families. * Continuous Learning: exhibit a growth mindset through participation in high quality professional learning; actively participate in the evaluation process through goal setting, reflection, and development of new strategies and techniques. * Collaboration: participate in reflective dialogue with colleagues, focused on student learning, to enhance student learning and utilize shared values and norms to facilitate discussions in which all participants have a voice and contribute to the common goal. Collaborate with special education, CLDE, and GT teachers to provide meaningful inclusion and/or extention opportunities for students. * Ethics: act ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision-making, and collaboration; place children at the center of education and accept responsibility for each student's academic success and well being. * Safety: supervise students in the classroom, halls, recess, before/after school duty, etc.; and enforce safety and security standards set by the District. * Follow State legal requirements, negotiated agreement, and District and building policies and procedures. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required: * Currently hold a Colorado teaching license and/or a Colorado principal license. * Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application Preferred: * Principal License and/or currently enrolled in a Principal Licensing program * First Aid/CPR Certificate * CLD or CLD Bilingual Endorsement * Bilingual Spanish/English * Previous experience as teacher leader and/or building administrator Salary Information: BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process.
