PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The role of the Curriculum Assistant is to implement and support all activities that address teacher acquisition of district curriculum designs and special funded programs appropriate to student needs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Attend all district required test administration training to ensure that proper testing procedures are implemented.
Schedule and conduct training sessions for campus test administrators.
Encourages planning for improvement in student test results.
Utilize evaluation data to improve professional skills and knowledge.
Maintain test security and confidential integrity for all assessments.
Verify student demographic data and program information.
Secure and collect all testing materials and meet all deadlines.
Assist principals/staff in organizing and conducting staff development to implement the district and state mandated testing program, policies, and procedures.
Assist campus staff with interpreting assessment data and/or disaggregation.
Be knowledgeable of testing accommodations and/or modifications for special populations.
Collect, organize and provide data to campus staff as requested.
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible and serve as role model for all campus staff.
Demonstrate components of research-based instructional programs in classrooms.
Demonstrate and assist classroom teachers in the delivery of effective instruction.
Plan with district specialist/supervisors on a regular basis to align and coordinate district instructional activities.
Provide training on identified intervention strategies and/or programs as needed.
Attend trainer-of-trainers workshops and conferences for professional growth.
Assist in implementing State Bilingual Title I Regular, Title I Migrant and special funded programs.
Provide technical assistance and program direction to all personnel involved in the implementation of the district's core curriculum and all supplemental programs.
Knowledgeable of the Special Population configuration in every classroom.
Assist in identifying and maintaining auditable data on students being served.
Will assist in reviewing and compiling all federal monthly reports and PEIMS reports.
Establish and maintain a clear, free and open channel of communication between campus principal and teachers.
Assist in implementing an on-going sequence of observations, conferences, team teaching, model teaching and demonstration teaching to facilitate the needs of teachers and students.
Assist in identifying curricular problems and to inform the campus principal of such problems.
Under the direction of the campus principal, confers with the teachers about teaching/instructional concerns.
Assists teachers in developing appropriate instructional strategies, adapting new teaching techniques to individual classroom situations and effective classroom management.
Utilizes all current assessment data to improve the delivery of instruction in the classroom.
Provide timely and effective oral and written communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and
community.
Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs.
Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process.
Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents and community members.
Assist principal to develop, maintain and use information systems to maintain records and to track progress on student achievement.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide instructional support to students for the purpose of providing a well-organized, smoothly functional supportive environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials in the Career Technical Education Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Associate degree or a minimum of 48 college hours, required
Paraprofessional Certification, preferred (required upon employment)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to read, write, and communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing in English; ability to work with at-risk students; ability to follow directions and carry out assigned tasks independently and in an organized manner, basic computer application skills in spreadsheets and work processing software.
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in school setting, preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Serve as a resource to principals and teachers in the implementation of programs and services for at-risk students in CTE classrooms.
* Implement instructional strategies and materials for at-risk CTE students.
* Assist individuals or small group of students in reinforcement and completion of assignments.
* Maintain a classroom environment that exemplifies high expectations, quality and student success.
* Assist in the collecting and organizing of reports required by the Career Technical Education for the CTE students in the assigned classes.
* Work cooperatively with CTE teachers, campus administrators, counselors, and CTE administration to provide high-quality instructional support for CTE students.
* Coordinate instructional activities with classroom teacher to assist in student's preparation of industry-based state licenses and certificates and CTE dual enrollment courses.
* Assist in making parent contacts as appropriate and within the confines of academic issues of the student.
* Direct social/emotional issues to appropriate pupil services personnel.
* Direct student in need of further assistance to the appropriate pupil services personnel (counselor, social worker, administrator, psychologist, etc.).
* Participate in appropriate professional development activities scheduled by the Career Technical Education Program.
* Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teacher.
* Assist in clerical duties in relation to correspondence regarding the students in the Career Technical Education Program.
* Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
* Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).

Minimum: $13.75
Maximum: $19.25
Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
