Special Education Teacher Assistant
SUMMARY
The Exceptional Education Teacher Assistantassists the Exceptional Education and General Education Teacher with instruction and medically relevant support for students with disabilities. This position assists with academic and functional curriculum. The Exceptional Education Teacher Assistant may provide adult support with daily living skills such as feeding, dressing, grooming and toileting, that correlate to mandatory Medicaid billing, and enhancement of present levels of performance, behavioral support, reinforcement of therapy goals, and job skills. Degree and level of support is based on grade level and student need. Transition and community-based tasks are specific to secondary students.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* High School Diploma or G.E.D.
AND
* Completion of an AZ Dept. of Education-approved Academic Assessment Test OR Associate's (or higher) degree OR Two-years (60 Semester-Hour credits) of post high school general education studies.
* One (1) year of experience working with youth or children
* Computer skills, including the ability to use email.
* Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
* Copy of diploma, transcripts, or test results must be submitted at the time of application
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Special Education experience
* Experience working with children with disabilities
* Experience working with children or adults in a vocational setting
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
* FBI fingerprint background check.

Position-Related Responsibilities
* Assist the Systems Operations training department with designing and documenting projects as needed
* Work with Training staff on designs, modifications and maintenance of software, hardware and related equipment as needed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Be pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a graduation date no earlier than May 2029.
* Be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours; up to 30 hours a week may be available during the summer and school breaks
* Have a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to protect highly sensitive and confidential information; Must be able to meet regular deadlines
* Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
* Possess functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products
* Be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
Requirements
* Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during regular business hours; and up to 40 hours a week during the summer and school breaks
* Student Interns must maintain the required hours for full-time student status, good academic standing at their college or university, as defined by the college or university and the GPA required for graduation by their college or university.
* Failure to maintain full-time status, good academic standing and/or the requisite GPA will result in Student Interns being deemed ineligible for participation in this program.
* Student Interns are employed on a temporary basis and are generally not eligible for some benefits; including holiday pay.
* Scheduling of work hours and assignments should be made taking into consideration that Student Interns are students first and employees second.

WHAT YOU NEED
Currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology or nursing program, or a program actively seeking accreditation; this program is only for students, not future veterinarians or veterinary assistants
Enrolled in a course that requires externship hours or skills
Able to start the program within six months of application
Current rabies vaccination or titer required
Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance
Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
