SUMMARY: Performs regular teacher's class plan while the teacher is out.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
Assumes the responsibilities for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.
Assumes all other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent.
Prepares lesson plans with assistance, as directed by an administrator, when lesson plans are not available in the classroom.
Maintains appropriate records including checking test papers, recording grades, student assignments for homework, projects and the necessary clerical work required to maintain student records for a teacher who is absent.
Provides assistance for students who need special help on those days when no teacher is present.
Provides for individualized and small group assistance for students as indicated by lesson plans.

Special Education Personal Aide Multiple Buildings Classified Staff Opening 2025-2026 Reports To: Building Principal and Assigned Classroom Teacher General Summary: To assist the student with personal and instructional needs throughout the school day and to provide a well-organized, smooth functioning environment in which the student can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
Essential Functions:
* Assists student in accessing transportation if needed.
* Provides personal care to student with special daily living needs (e.g. toileting, feeding, physical management) if needed
* Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
* Refers problems to professional staff.
* Works with student in schools and in community sites and outings.
* Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
* Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives.
* Provides clerical assistance to maintaining student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes.)
* Assists with the supervision of student during recess, lunchroom, and on the playground.
* Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
* Reinforces instructional and behavioral objectives for children.
* Exhibits the ability to follow teacher directions and written plans.
* Has the ability to work in a team setting and be flexible.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Education Level - high school diploma
* Qualifications - Working well with students & Ability to follow the instruction of the teacher(s) to whom the aide is assigned.
* Other requirements - Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer knowledge and assistive technology.

Job DescriptionSalary: $15.00- $21.00 per hour
To provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Head Start/Early Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. The Teacher will coordinate and implement curriculum designed to promote Head Start/Early Head Start School Readiness goals for children to facilitate transition into kindergarten. Must meet requirements per Federal Head Start Performance Standards and any local, state and/or agency policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Early Head Start Teacher:
Required: High School Diploma or GED and Infant/ Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. If CDA is not held at the time of hire, it must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
Desired: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Early Childhood Development (ECD). Transcripts are required to validate educational requirements.
Infant/Toddler (ages 0-2) Classroom teaching experience is required, two years is preferred. Experience should include the ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse populations.
Head Start Teacher:
Required: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre K) or a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre K) or an Associates Degree or higher that includes coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education. Transcripts are required to validate educational requirements.
Pre-school (ages 3-5) Classroom teaching experience is required, two years is preferred. Experience should include the ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at risk, special needs, gifted, and culturally diverse populations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Intermediate to advanced computer skills, internet and e-mail.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Missouri Driver's License and proof of insurance and must provide own vehicle for home visits.
Within 30 days of employment must be Pediatric CPR & First Aid certified.
A completed physical is required at hire and will be updated annually.
At time of hire must be currently enrolled in Child Care Division-Central Background Registry and must renew every two years.
