Key Responsibilities:
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and electrical control issues.
* Act as the lead troubleshooter for higher-level electrical issues on your shift.
* Install, maintain, and repair control system components (PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, etc.).
* Provide on-shift training on control systems to maintenance and operations staff.
* Support the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, including audits and training.
* Monitor and resolve significant downtime events; drive root cause problem solving.
* Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
* Coordinate hardware upgrades and procurement for control systems.
* Maintain plant control systems for mixers, conveyors, compressors, pumps, and more.
* Daily monitoring and maintenance of key utilities (chillers, compressors, fire systems).
* Execute and document work orders, including preventive maintenance tasks.
* Support equipment installations, calibrations, rebuilds, and mechanical/electrical repairs.
* Collaborate with engineers and technicians to continuously improve system performance.
* Maintain and update technical skills, including hardware/software troubleshooting.
* Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and internal policies.
* Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or GED and either:
* A degree from a technical school or industrial maintenance certifications (PLC, Machine Logic), or
* 3+ years of relevant experience in an industrial controls environment.

Job Description
UL Solutions, will be installing a Solar Monitoring Station (SMS) near DeWitt, AR. The SMS occupies a footprint of roughly 700ft2, consists of a few solar panels, (2) 7-foot tripods, and various scientific measurement equipment surrounded by fencing. The SMS will be monitoring irradiance, aka sunshine data, as well as other meteorological and weather-related parameters.
The station requires weekly maintenance, on the same day each week during daylight hours to ensure consistent and accurate data is being collected for approximately 12 months. Your duties will include the following:
Uphold highest level of communication as first point of contact for equipment in field;
Ensure all equipment is level & clean on a weekly basis;
Provide troubleshooting (w/support from UL Solutions) and when requested, repair(s) for low-medium complexity issues;
Ensure there is no debris obstructing the system (depending on site/region, grass cutting, snow removal, or clearing brush); and
Confirm the system is secure and hasn't been tampered with.
Each maintenance visit should take no more than 60-90 minutes. UL Solutions requires weekly digital logbook entries via internet along with photo uploads and other documentation to support the visit which should take 45-90 minutes. The entire process is estimated to require between 2-4 hours each week, including travel time to and from site.
Occasionally, UL Solutions may request your assistance in replacing or troubleshooting equipment. A Senior Engineer would contact you to walk you through the process. They will support you while onsite and review data after the equipment repair.
Qualifications
No solar experience is required. Training will be provided remotely via phone and video, potential onsite training when possible.
Must be able to take instruction remotely throughout length of contract term.
Must use own transportation to and from remote SMS location (4WD preferred.)
Willing/able to walk to and from site, typically no more than ¼ mile in one direction.
Must own or have access to gas or battery-operated weedwhacker for occasional grass management, additional compensation will be provided.
Required to climb and work comfortably from a 6 or 8-foot ladder (provided).

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment used in the agricultural industry. Your role will involve troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, performing inspections, and completing necessary repairs or part replacements. You will work directly at client sites, ensuring that the equipment is functioning optimally and minimizing downtime. Consults with Service Manager to plan effective work and travel schedule, giving priority to customer need, considering location of machine and availability of parts.
Diagnose malfunctions: repairs and/or replaces worn and defective parts; installs new assemblies, adjusts devices and controls - to correct malfunctions and to keep machines in operating order
Inspects, operates, and tests machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals and upon completion of any repair work to ensure proper functioning of equipment and its components.
Strives to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meeting of departmental personnel and reading of technical literature.
Promotes and enhances the company image by maintaining a neat, personal appearance and by keeping the service truck in a clean, polished, and orderly condition.
Experienced or advanced servicemen are expected to serve as troubleshooters on recurring or unusual problems, conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve.
Experienced or advanced servicemen will be expected to train new servicemen or to supervise a team of servicemen in the assembling or servicing of large units or in a joint effort on large repair jobs.
Compensation: $25-35+/hour depending on experience
Requirements
Experience working on equipment preferred
Experience working with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment required
2+ years of field service experience preferred, but not required
Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, MVR and physical
