University of Belgrade company history timeline
The origin of the University of Belgrade can be tracked down to the beginning of the 19th century, when Dositej Obradović founded the College in 1808.
Transferred to Belgrade in 1841, the Lyceum opened its Law Department, in addition to the already existing Philosophy Department.
On September 24, 1863, the Law on the Advanced School Founding was adopted.
The first university level lecture in the area of electrical engineering was held in 1894.
First diplomas in this area were given in 1922.
The education of electrical engineers has been considerably expanded after reorganization of the engineering department in 1935.
The mechanical department became Mechanical Electrical Engineering department, within which, in 1937, four new departments were formed- mechanical, aeronautical, power systems engineering and telecommunications.
After the liberation of 1945, the University was reopened by the new communist government.
In 1946 the Department of Electrical Engineering was formed.
In 1955 a new department was founded - Physical Electronics.
The University was the very centre of resistance to retrograde and undemocratic policy of the authorities, from the first student demonstrations in 1968 to the political struggles in the last decade of the 20th century.
The fourth department - Computer science - was formed in 1987.
The most recent addition is the department of Software Engineering, which was formed in 2004.
EDUCONS University was founded in 2008 as a modern scientific-educational institution with 11 faculties.
