How We Determined the Best Cities for Electricians

At Zippia, we engage with diverse individuals seeking employment. Our findings reveal that job seekers prioritize:

  • Job availability
  • Competitive pay

To pinpoint the best cities for electricians in the U.S., we analyzed job availability and salary data, utilizing criteria from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Employment Statistics:

  • Location quotient: Reflects the prevalence of electricians in a specific city.
  • Average annual salary.
  • Average entry-level salary.

To ensure fair comparisons across cities, we adjusted salary figures based on the cost of living in each state.

This analysis included data from 401 metropolitan areas across the country. For our purposes, we designated the primary city within each metro area. For instance, the “Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA NECTA Division” was simplified to Boston.

Cities were ranked based on the above criteria, with the lowest overall score indicating the best conditions for electricians.
