Does Bon Ton drug test?

By Justin Parker - Jun. 12, 2023

Yes, Bon Ton does drug test potential hires. While this is the company's policy, many former and current employees have reported to have not had to take a drug screen in the pre-employment or hiring processes.

The company uses a urine test to screen candidates for drugs, alcohol, and other substances. This is performed at a third-party medical facility of the company's choosing. The drug test used by their third-party partner medical facility is a standardized five-panel urine test. This can detect the five most commonly abused drugs and substances:

  • Cannabis
  • Cocaine
  • Opiates
  • Amphetamine
  • PCP

The company also holds the right to use other drug tests on its employees, such as hair tests.

The only times the company requests a drug test for current employees are when an employee:

  • Is suspected of being intoxicated at workIs involved in a workplace accidentExperiences a work-related injury

In any of these instances, a failed drug test can result in disciplinary action, including termination, and possible criminal prosecution, if the employee has endangered the lives of their co-workers.
