U-Haul's code of conduct drug policy prohibits the use, possession, sale, manufacture, or distribution of illegal drugs or controlled substances by employees while on duty, on company premises, in company vehicles, or while conducting business on behalf of the company. The policy also requires compliance with applicable laws regarding drug and alcohol use and testing and outlines the consequences of violating the policy, which can include disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

U-Haul also has a tobacco-free workplace policy that prohibits smoking and the use of all tobacco products, including smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes, on company property, including buildings, vehicles, and parking lots. This policy applies to all employees, customers, and visitors, and is designed to promote a healthy and safe work environment. Violation of the policy can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
